Indiana, Boston, MIlwaukee, and Washington could still be formidable. Especially Boston.
Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Toronto probably just runs back their team now, right? I'm glad Boston and Philly look promising, they'll be the Eastern conference finals for the foreseeable future. Can Indy get any better? Can milwaukee put a team around Giannis? This probably means Miami can keep making the playoffs with the highly mediocre roster...
As for the west:
Golden State is the most stacked team in history
Houston almost beat that stacked team
Portland, OKC, and Utah are bringing back everyone from the 3,4,5 seeds.
New Orleans has the best young star in the game (AD)
San Antonio may lose Kawhi, but they were the 7th seed last year without him and will surely add value in any trade.
Minny brings back everyone
Denver brings back everyone and adds a healthy Millsap and Michael Porter Jr.
Lakers add LeBron
Clippers look like they're out of the playoff picture but they aren't a bad team
Memphis has ideas of competing with Conley and Gasol back
Dallas wants to be good with Doncic I'm the fold and they brought in DeAndre
Phoenix added two immediate impact rookies, including #1 overall and look like they're trying to win next year.
Sacramento doesn't have their own pick and has no incentive to lose, but they lack talent.
Gonna be an absolute bloodbath..could have 14 teams with a realistic shot at the playoffs in the east

Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Boston is the only team I can see pushing the Warriors more than 4 games in the Finals. Kyrie gives Curry fits, Horford and all those wings, that's a good team built for the long haul.

Oops, I accidentally left off Philadelphia.

How much space do they have left? Can they still trade for Kawhi? Sign Cousins? Are they just planning on signing Kawhi next year?
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
LeBron making sure his guys are taken care of.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Nerlens Noel might be coming too... Another klutch client
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Lakers would have to renounce Randle to have space for Cousins or Kawhi I think.

Since we don't play East vs west anymore anyways, can we get rid of the conference affiliation for the all Star games? Just take the best 24
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
I love the Kuzma, Hart, and Ball celebrating LeBron's signing...unbeknownst to them they'll probably be in another uniform by the end of the month.

Seeding the best teams 1-16 really needs to happen. Conferences don't make sense if the goal is to reward the best teams with playoff spots.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:22 pmAnybody who is hoping that the Suns will be a playoff team next year now needs to factor in that the Lakers will probably be in the top 8. I could imagine some playoff teams (Portland? San Antonio? New Orleans?) taking slight steps back, most notably San Antonio if they trade Kawhi for future assets. But the West is going to be a bloodbath where like 12-13 teams are legit trying to make it into the playoffs. Even most of the non-playoff teams like Dallas (Doncic, Jordan) are getting a lot better.
I still think we will be one of the worst teams in the West next season, record-wise. Not because I think we have crappy players or lack talent, but because we'll be so young and inexperienced.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Stephen A. Smith is saying Kyle Kuzma is off limits in the Kawhi Leonard trade talks. Apparently San Antonio is asking for 3 1st round picks.

Solid move for NY. I didn't have interest in Hezonja in the draft, and he didn't do anything his first two years in the NBA, but he came on a little bit toward the end of last season.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Anyone not named LeBron being off the table in L.A. is hilarious.

It makes little sense to keep Kyle freakin Kuzma off the table in a deal for Kawhi Leonard. Magic is a cocky fuck though, but if I'm SA I don't trade Kawhi for anything less than what I want at this point. Force the Lakers to make decisions, its not like LA has this super tremendous talent cache to deal with.
