Game Day (Home Opener): Mavericks (0-0) @ Suns (0-0), Wed 10/17/18

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:30 pm AZ (7:30 pm PT/10:30 pm ET)
Place: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ
TV: FSAZ, ESPN

The day is finally upon us! The Phoenix Suns open their season at home against the Dallas Mavericks. Ayton vs. Doncic. The Suns' top two choices in the 2018 NBA draft go at it to start the season. Who starts at PG for the Suns? My guess is Canaan.

Go Suns!!!

Ok, prediction: First Ayton blocks Doncic's drive to the hoop then Booker hits at the buzzer. Suns win  Let's go mad everyone.

Let's gooooo!!! Finally, after 3 long years, we get to root for wins again. That alone should make this a better season.

Can't wait to see Ayton vs Jordan. And there will be a point at which Doncic gets Ayton on the perimeter and Ayton contains him.

Regardless of our record this season, it's going to be fun to watch Ayton and Booker.

I'm so used to us hardly being on the Networks that I wasn't even studying that Ayton being #1 pick might change that so when the game advertised last night I was still shocked lol as I'm so used having to stream our games.
should be fun

I've got an ice cold can of sparkling water waiting for me at my buddy's house where I'm gonna watch the game tonight. Can't wait!

Predictions:
*Ayton impresses with 18/11/3
*Doncic impresses with 15/5/5 and a couple of nifty passes
*JJ shoots 33% from the field but man what athleticism
*Suns lose by 18, showing improvement from last year's opening night debacle
*Igor calls his wife right after the game to tell her he loves her and the kids

It's the classic reverse jinx, BG8. 8-) Besides, if it were to happen, it's nothing that can't be cured by ice cold sparkling water, especially right out of the can.

It will be nice to see Booker playing basketball again. It has been awhile.

Hopefully the Booker/Ayton pick and roll will be money.

Drama lines going tonight.

Ayton vs. Doncic
Ayton facing his most difficult test in Deandre Jordan and his defense
Kokoskov vs his former player in Doncic.

And last but not least, Isaiah Canaan is starting tonight. The last time the Mavs were in town was a really really bad night for Canaan. Yes. It was that night. Who would have believed that the next time the Mavs would be in town he would be the Suns starting pg?

Prediction: Bender doesn't play unless there's garbage time.

I remember watching DeAndre Jordan absolutely toy with the Suns centers last year and thinking they won't be able to beat those types of teams until they can score against him or match up physically with him. I'll really be curious as to how Deandre looks against DeAndre.

Yeah, let's see how important that capital 'A' really is!

We need to come up with a better name for Ayton.

I loved the Kiwi announcer's description of him during that game with the team Marion partially owns.

"He is a Mahnstah!"
