He was nowhere near terrible. He hit on Warren, Booker, Jackson, Okobo, Ayton, and Bridges. He whiffed Chriss and Bender. Altogether the team blew at developing talent. Len is a mediocre starter in this league but needed time. He still has potential higher ceiling than Fropez. Anyway, Jones will be good to help bring in free agents. Sarver hopefully won’t fudge it up.
Re: Suns News: Week 3 10/29-11/4
1) How can you say he hit on Okobo and Bridges? We don't even know what the other end of the Bridges equation is yet, much less if either will be solid starters.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:22 pmGet over McD. 2) He hit on Jackson? Really? Josh Jackson? Really? The guy that is a -51 net O vs D ration per 100 possessions? And the worst win share per 48 of anyone in the league that has played more than 30 minutes this season?
3) Alex Len has a higher career ceiling than Robin Lopez?

I was off on Labissiere but trading down to get other assets would have been an option. That Draft wasn’t going to be good.gosuns wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2016 9:43 amI voted Skal. I know its a reach at #4, but i would try to trade down but at the same time try to make sure we get him. None of the other players really exite me and i think skal has the biggest upside of all those prospects. I'm thinking who will be the best player if he fullfills his potential and who would possibly be a top 3 player on a championship team, again by reaching its full potential. Bender would be my second option, also because of his potential.

You clearly don't get it. When a draft is widely regarded as "not that good at the top" you are supposed to double down on it and trade assets to get more chances to pick up busts.gosuns wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 9:02 amSuperbone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 6:41 pmLet's not forget that we gave up the rights to Bogdanovic for the priviledge.TheOriginalOriginal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 3:46 pmTaking chances with a top 5 pick is stupid, taking chances with 2 top 10 picks is stupider. I m sorry, i obviously didn’t understand the analytics. I forgot that you later can trade those crappy players you drafted for old washed up players that make way more money. Thank you for pointing it out.Indy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 9:10 amYou clearly don't get it. I was there. I saw it happen. It was really awkward. They complained, he got fired.

Re: Suns News: Week 3 10/29-11/4
It seems that nearly every time if we are taking about a top 15 pick or so, he is right on the money 3 years before everyone else. When it comes to 2nd round picks, it is a complete crap shoot, even with his picks.

What can we say? His big red F was correct! And he got a lot of guff. I for one apologize!

Me too. I didn't give him a lot of shit, but I did say an F was crazy as it should be a C or B-. How wrong I was, and at the time I felt like I was still in the extremely small minority of not thinking it was some version of A or B.Superbone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 10:50 amWhat can we say? Re: Suns News: Week 3 10/29-11/4
While INF was proven quite right, there is still an argument that two "swing for the fence" picks weren't an awful idea. Even when we picked them, we knew they were projects in the most raw sense. Bender was purely hypothetical skill/talent and Chriss basically having to learn how to actually play. Chriss came to basketball late and had already made great strides as the college season went on, so I understand the thinking, even though I kinda hated the pick at the time.
There was a logic to it, it just didn't work out. It was two big whiffs - no other way to put it. When you go out on a limb, sometimes the limb breaks.

Good choice. Make him earn it.
