As well as late. Easily his best game as a Sun.

Loved Bender's expression after the Oubre Jr. put back dunk:

The Suns almost had 5 players with at least 3 steals. Holmes (2), Oubre (3), Jackson (3), Bridges (4) and Melton (4).

LOL. I did really like his rebounding activity. He can teach our bigs a thing or two.djy2j wrote:1-0 in the Quincy Acy era!

Really good hustling second half and a pretty good template for how they need to play.
Acy actually made a bit of a difference with his desperation - there was one missed FT that he and Holmes combined to get the offensive rebound and (from memory) we scored on the second chance. A really good example of never giving up on a play.
Ayton still plays within himself a lot but I liked how he went after the last missed FT by WCS - no way he wasn’t getting that one. Small steps...
We’ve had a few big comebacks that haven’t ended up in wins - nice to get the reward in this one. Now to not fall so far behind in the first place!!!!

I feel like Melton has at least 6 steals. He was everywhere.
On the flip-side, when Crawford goes into Carmelo-mode, he may be the worst player in the NBA. He's functional and even helpful when he plays pass-first and only shoots when it's called for. When he's forcing up contested mid-range jumpers after 14 crossover dribbles it just sucks the life out of the offense.

It's time to give Troy Daniels more minutes. He needs to be out there with the 2nd unit and maybe close games out if he's hot. We need him taking shots away from Crawford.

agreed on how fun that 2nd half was, how crawford shouldn't get more than 3 shots a game, and playing Daniels more when we are struggling to find shots.

I was a bad fan in this one. I watched part of it and started to see the same script, with the Suns falling behind and not trying their best. So I went and spent time with my kid instead. And then I missed the comeback. I'm glad we won but I wish we could just give a consistent effort.

Assuming Evie gave a consistent effort and never fell behind, you made the right choice.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:16 amI was a bad fan in this one. Caught the first half which was a tale of two quarters. First quarter was solid, 2nd qtr we let it get away. Luckily we've been playing well in the 3rd qtr of late.
Melton is definitely intriguing. I like what I'm seeing from him even if he's not a traditional pass-first PG or a great shooter just yet. I think the game is slowing down a bit for him and the defensive potential has always been there. Dare I say he might be a better version of Brandon Knight? We may have our very own AASW.
We threw the ball to Ayton in the post a bunch of times during the 1st qtr and surprise - easy baskets! His baseline fadeaway has shades of Olajuwon/Ewing and is almost unguardable. This is what we need more of. I don't need super elaborate KG moves with headfakes, up and unders, etc. Just get him the ball on the block 8-10 ft away. He's too good to ignore down there. And please, enough with the entry passes from the top of the key. It's the worst angle to make an entry pass and is easy to defend. Plus, what is Ayton really going to do with the ball with his back to the basket in the middle of the paint. Low post play is all about angles and we suck at all of it.
Oubre's been a great addition and has a lot more offense than I initially thought.
Interesting that Holmes and Acy were getting time together...seems like Igor wants more size that can spread the floor upfront with the 2nd unit. Clearly he has no plans for Anderson or Bender. Acy isn't exactly a shooter but should keep defenses somewhat honest while still providing some rebounding and toughness inside.
Another pretty solid one from Jackson. He has some really good moments, and then does something dumb like coming down 1 on 3 and pulling up for a 26ft 3 with 22 on the shotclock. He needs to think the game better for better possessions.
In general, we need to do a better job rebounding. Our starting forwards combined for 4 rebounds, Mikal had none. Gotta do better there.

He's also starting to get the ball stolen regularly when making his dribble moves.Shabazz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 1:00 amI feel like Melton has at least 6 steals. He was everywhere.

Jackson took a really tough pull up jumper in traffic late in the game which he fortunately nailed as it kept us in the game at a critical juncture.
