I was thinking we should de-age Kareem this summer and sign him to a minimum, 10 year contract.

I lost interest in Suns fan fiction long ago when their reality became disappointing enough.

I won’t try to get into specifics of what we’ll do, because I’ll definitely be wrong, but i think there is an outline we’ll follow.

1. Add a starting PG
2. Add a starting PF
3. Trim off some young players
4. Add another vet or 2

99% sure they’ll be here next year
1. Booker
2. Ayton
90% sure they’ll be here next year
3. Bridges
4. Oubre
75% sure they’ll be here next year
5. Richaun Holmes
60% sure they’ll be here next year
6. Tyler Johnson - Will be trade bait if we land another vet pg
7. Josh Jackson - Lean towards thinking we’ll keep him
50-50
8. Elie Okobo - Don’t see us keeping both him and Melton
9. DeAnthony Melton
10. Dragan Bender
11. Jamal Crawford - Would like him back as a mentor
12. George King
25% Chance they’ll be here
13. Ray Spalding
14. Troy Daniels
15. TJ Warren - Pretty sure he’s gone...
16. Jimmer

Yeah, what the heck do you do if we bring in a PG through the draft?
PG: Morant, Johnson, Melton, Okobo, Crawford???

Between Okobo and Melton, I hope we keep Melton.

My fantasy rebuild:

Trade Ayton / Warren / Jackson + a pick swap for Anthony Davis
Brandon Clarke falls to the pick we got from the Pels. (Not that far fetched, since the pels have the 7th pick pre-lottery)
Grab a senior wing player at pick 32. Cam Johnson, Windler, I don't know.
AD + Booker are enough to entice Kyrie Irving.
Resign Holmes
Sign a solid vet to play 2/3 (Danny Green? Tyreke Evans?)
Grab a solid vet to play center. Someone in the Robin Lopez ability range.

Irving -- Jonson -- Melton
Booker -- Evans -- Okobo
Bridges -- Evans -- Windler
AD -- Clarke -- Bender
Lopez -- Holmes -- Clarke -- Bender
The league needs heroes, villains... and clowns. -- Aztec Sunsfan

Ok, if you guys were GM and you needed to make the Suns competitive this next year without sacrificing the future, what would be your plan?

I know there are quite a few of us that believe that the best that could be done is get to the 30s in wins, but maybe it's not quite that bleak. Time to put your GM hats on.

I wonder how attainable Kevin Love would be?

Would Tyler Johnson/TJ Warren/Mil Pick be enough?

Then use our pick to either draft Morant or trade for a PG. Say we draft Morant...then sign Collison.

Collison/Booker/Oubre/Love/Ayton
Morant/Jackson/Bridges/Holmes

Probably need to move on from Melton and/or Okobo.

Use room exception to sign another vet off the bench. Could bring Bender back as well.

Not necessarily my ideal strategy, but I think we’d be a decent team...could sneak into playoffs depending on other west teams

I think I want to know the results of the lottery before I could answer. If we somehow got the #1 pick, we take Zion, and that changes everything. If we get #2, I think we should take Morant and plan for him to be our starting PG. Else I don't know yet and would want to think about a bigger picture.

I do think we're likely to need to acquire one or both of a starting PG and/or PF this offseason. I would love to try to get a PF like Kevin Love. At PG I'd love a heady veteran like Mike Conley, D'Angelo Russell, Ricky Rubio, Darren Collison, somebody like that.

The crazy thing is, had we better allocated the $15M we rushed to pay Ariza, we probably could have fielded a team that could have hit 30 wins. For example, imagine if we have Randle $10M and Napier $3M. Or even retained Elfrid.

I’m of the opinion that Napier (or Payton)/Booker/Warren (or Bridges)/Randle/Ayton is worth at least 9 more wins than Canaan/Booker/Paycheck Ariza/Anderson/Ayton.

Might be better to say Sarver owes you the 110.

Didn’t you place that bet after McD’s moves?
