Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Kyrie was a hot mess in Boston this past season. But he'd still be a huge talent upgrade here if we could somehow get him. I would still prefer to go after a pass-first (or at least very-willing-to-pass) PG like Conley, Rubio, Ball, or Collison. Those all seem like better PGs to go after to me. I'm particularly interested to see whether we can pry away Ball; it feels like the Lakers don't value him much, and I still think he's going to be good.

Wait...Ramona Shelburne is suggesting what?

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
I only want Kyrie if he wants to be in Phoenix. Otherwise, he's just a toxic player who will play hero ball and hurt the younger players. In that case, let him go to NY.
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
If he signs a long term deal as a FA, you would think he wants to be in Phoenix, no? I mean that seems to be the logical conclusion at that moment. Things could change though and McD could sour the relationship like so many others...

He haunts our franchise from afar!

I was joking. I was sure you all would have seen the humor in that, but...Indy wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 12:13 pmMcD?

Seems like another good hire by Jones, but time will tell.

Honestly, just the fact that we are hiring people focused on development is a good sign.

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Is there any chance Julius Randle opts out of the $9M on the last year of his contract for a longer deal?
I'd be happy with using any cap space on him if the Suns do take on a young PG.

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Randle in my opinion would be the perfect PF next to Ayton. He's someone who can crash the glass on defense. Too many times last year Ayton would cause the miss only to have someone else get the offensive rebound and put it in. Then on offense, he can operate out to the 3pt line, and can drive from there as well.
Also glad to see were spending some money on development. It's been a serious shortcoming for the past few years. Also hoping Monty can boost the confidence of some of these guys.

What's the case for Randle? Isn't he a bruising PF who doesn't have a very good outside shot? I don't dislike him, I just wonder about the fit. Can we really play him with Ayton in 2019-20's NBA? Isn't that a lot of non-shooting from the frontcourt?
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
It'd be hilarious if we keep Warren too because Booker and Ayton take a fair amount of mid-range shots.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:What's the case for Randle? Randle shot better from 3 than everyone on our team except TJ, Daniels, Ariza and Canaan. And he did it on almost 3 attempts per game, so it wasn't a low sample size.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 2:09 pmWhat's the case for Randle? Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

He wanted to be in Boston too. That lasted one season.
I get he is super-talented, he hit a big shot in the NBA finals, etc. But I would prefer to not go that route. I think he could get us to 40 wins, but after that I don't see the ceiling being much higher. I don't think he makes players better; I don't think he fits well with Booker; and you can forget about Ayton developing offensively.

My initial thoughts are...idk...maybe...could happen...would he sign and extension?...could they pull out another move?...

I’d probably do it, even without a full commitment from AD. As long as he was willing to give it a chance, I’d roll the dice on Monty and Booker convincing him this could be a contender.
How you fill out the roster could be tricky. It would be easier if NO wanted Tyler Johnson’s contract instead of Warren. Then we could either trade warren into someone’s cap space or for non guaranteed contracts plus a late pick. Inf mentioned to Utah for korver/Neto and #23.
Now you’ve got Booker/Bridges/Davis in addition to bench guys Jackson/Melton/Okobo. You retain rights to Holmes and Oubre , you have the 23rd pick and have 30 million in cap space.
That’s a lot to work with. You’d need a pg and another big to pair with AD, then probably 2 more bench guys. Use #23 for a bench guy, the room exception for bench guy #2 and then split the 30 million between a pg and pf.
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Wouldn’t give up a 2021 unprotected...that leaves us very vulnerable if AD leaves after 1 year. Honestly, I don’t think we need to add another pick, unless it’s the Milwaukee pick. Ayton, Warren, #6 and the Mil Pick is very in line with the offers NY, LA, or Boston could offer.In2ition wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 10:56 amhttps://www.sbnation.com/2019/5/17/1862 ... mind-blown
