Character matters. I'm not sure I could convince myself to take on a total s*** head player even if it improves the team. Blarg.
This. I am not saying players I haven't rooted for were great people, but once I find out they are an a****** or a s*** head, I stop rooting for them. It would make my Suns fandom even more miserable than the last few years if I was rooting for a team where the key players were known a******/s*** heads.
How many of us were huge KJ fans? He's the whole reason I'm a Suns fan in the first place. I still haven't wrapped my head around all that business.
Same here for the first part. Although my first Suns game I attended was in 82 (before I even knew what the NBA was or that there was a Phoenix Suns team), but I didn't watch another until late in the 87-88 season. I was hooked, and much of it was due to KJ. He was my favorite sports player ever from about 1987 until 2007 or so. I can't remember when I first read that article that seemed credible to me. I remembered hearing something vaguely in early 2000s, but didn't see any real reporting until later.

I realize these all just people, and we all have flaws. But there are certain things you don't forgive, and that is one of them.

f*** that guy.
Yes, indeed.

I am also done defending Josh Jackson.
Same.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

So awesome that McD wasted three top 10 picks in consecutive years on guys who may be out of the league without getting a second contract. And we wonder why the Suns are a pathetic mess. F JJ, I doubt he ever suits up for us again, and now we'd have to send out picks/players just to dump his contract.

I've heard recent rumors that the Pacers would like to trade up to select Garland. I could see the Suns dealing #6 to them if Culver is gone and the Pacers are willing to sweeten the deal. Holiday and Sabonis for #6 would be great.

Doubt we'd get both guys for 6. And not sure why the Pacers are looking to move Holiday at this point? Or Sabonis for that matter. Maybe it's a payroll thing but Sabonis seems a part of the Pacers' core. Would love either guy, Sabonis especially even with some of his shortcomings.

So both their starting PG and their back up PG (who can also play SG) are FAs this summer, but we want to go after their 3rd string guard that we would have to pay and give up assets for?

But it isn't one or the other. It isn't all or nothing. things are not just black and white. there are a million shades of grey. I think we are more likely to piss off players on this team by signing DLo and then not having any room to bring back FAs in two years after we start getting good. Then we max out at a 50 win team that gets bounced in round one and have to start all over like Memphis is doing.
50 wins, you say?
I think a core of Dlo, Book, Ayton in a couple years and Bridges in a couple years with a good bench could compete for 50 games. I can't see a backcourt of Dlo and Booker exceeding in the playoffs.
I'm curious, why do you say that? Booker can't score in the playoffs? He doesn't have a game that can exceed in a playoff scenario? Or DLo doesn't? The combination with Ayton & Bridges, along with a PF wouldn't work in the playoffs?
I think Booker's offense is built for the playoffs. But in the playoffs you have to stay close all game (because it will come down to the last 6 minutes of the 4th, nearly every time). A back court of D-lo and Booker can't keep the other great guards in the league in check for an entire game. Even if you have the best defensive PF in the game playing with them, that won't do much. We would have to see a change in Ayton's defense where he goes from being one of the worst in the league at his position to one of the best.

So I think spending 60M/year on two starting back court players that are both one-way guys is a mistake.

Holiday probably ends up being better than Collison and Joseph.

I won't argue against that. But people have been complaining that Collison isn't good enough to help our team this year, but Holiday will? That is the logic part that is bothering me.

I get the feeling the new regime wants to have each media mouthpiece/insider telling a different story. I think that is good as long as you don't piss off your sources too much. Gambo seems like a guy desperate to have insider status, so you can probably fuck with him over and over and over and he will keep coming back for more.

He rarely gives bad info regarding insider info on the Suns.

In the last regime, yeah. What has he shared (that other media folks didn't) since mcd is gone?

He had a real bad draft last year. Said we were trading up for SGA and then said we drafted Divincenzo. In his defense, it does sound like we almost did both of those things, but he reported them as being done.
