Yeah, it's funny. Once saucy sets his ire on a guy, he can do no right. He played within himself today. Played some good defense, got some steals, and hit some 3s.

Ah. Didn't know if I'd ever see that again. It's been so long I had forgotten about it.

There are three defenders between him and the basket and everybody else is wide open, so it doesn’t seem completely unreasonable.
Is Book standing with his arms folded? Looks like it from that photo.

Thanks for winning...against a GLeage team. A win is a win but not impressive
They ignored Bridges and Ayton in the offense all first half. This causes DA to fall asleep. DA needs to be more engaged and put himself in position to get the ball. I think he had 5 shot attempts in the first half of an offense heavy game. Zero FT attempts for the game
I like Payne as a backup more than anyone else.
If Carter can’t come in and at least slow Ish Smith or Jerome Robinson (who?) then he’s not deserving of an NBA roster spot. Ish looked like Kemba Walker. Suns need to consider getting him back. He carved up Suns defenders
Suns won this because of more talent not because they played all that well.

We came out tight to start, which was disappointing considering how loose we played in the scrimmages. DA was a step slow in the first half, couldn't seem to catch anything and picked up two fouls early and had to sit. He was better in the 2nd half and you look at the boxscore and think he had this dominant game, but you just didn't get that feeling watching it. I absolutely think we need to run offense for him down low or get him in some pick and pop situations to keep him in the flow of the game. He can be a 28-15 player easily if engaged for 30+ minutes. But that's nothing new.
I thought Dario had one of his better games with us. Came off the bench, didn't seem overwhelmed physically or athletically. I like him bringing the ball up off rebounds and looking to make a few plays rather than deferring to Book or Rubio and standing at the 3pt line. We may need him more as a "connector" with the bench players than with the starters, even tho Cam did struggle defensively against Rui as a starter. But Dario is just a guy who knows how to play and where to be. Fights for rebounds, makes the right pass, hit his 3s.
Jevon and Payne both played very well off the bench I thought. Ish is a tough matchup for anyone. One of the quickest guys in the league and that 14ft pullup is money for him. But Javon brought the energy we needed when we were flat, gives us the ability to extend things defensively. I really like the look of Payne and hope he's not a flash in the pan for us. NBA size and athleticism, plays some good defense, can score in a bunch of different ways. The Wiz are pretty guard heavy so I'm not sure Carter sees as many minutes going forward. And Monty may still be working Rubio in and scaling up his minutes. Rubio played 19 minutes in his first game, 24 in his second and 29 yesterday.
Bridges and Cam were quiet, Book was Book. Frank was Frank. He'll be out if/when Baynes is ready to come back. The Wiz have a young, athletic team that plays hard. Those are the teams that are tough, especially if you've never seen the personnel or how they really play.
I did like the rotations overall tho I think either Book or DA needs to be with the subs as a go-to offensive option. If it's Payne, Jevon, Frank, Dario, Cam Johnson, Frank we end up just shooting 3s most of the time. Maybe Payne can evolve into that scorer with the 2nd unit.
Would love to see Baynes play against the Mavs, maybe 10-12 minutes. We could use the size and inside play defensively.

Rubio to Bridges backdoor on the break reminds me of Nash and Barbosa
Bridges getting into the lane as much as he has been is huge for our offense. Doesn't let the defense relax against him:
Also liked this move by Ayton. Fumbled the pass but kept his head, got to a good spot on the floor, made his move on Bryant and nailed the fadeaway

6 guys in double figures, the two stars with ~25ish points, and the team shot over 50%. Can't really complain about the offense.
On D, we held most of the team in check. But a few guys really got to us. We never had an answer for Ish or Rui or Troy Brown or Jerome Robinson. Seems like there is always a player on the court hurting us with pure hustle and will.
Cam just couldn't match up with Rui physically, but I thought he did well otherwise. I continue to be surprised by his mobility and defense. And while he and Bridges didn't shoot well from 3, they seemed to hit everything inside the arc.
Gotta give Payne a ton of credit for this game. He came out more calm and focused than in the scrimmages. Just played well on both ends and made plays in the flow of the game. He's looking very good and I hope he keeps it up.

I love what DA give us, but his rebounding hasn't been particularly special yet. Special for a young player, so I have hope that he will become one of the Suns all-time top rebounders. But so far he rebounds about as much as Len and Chandler. The Bobster wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 3:35 pmReally efficient shooting - 24 points on 14 FGA
And we take his rebounding for granted a bit I think.
Booker needs to be a little more efficient - 8/21 FG, 4 assists, 5 turnovers

Chandler is a really good rebounder. And Ayton’s rebounding numbers are better than Len. If Ayton had played enough to qualify, his 19.0 rebound rate for his career puts him 13th all time. He was at 20.1 this last year. Only 6 guys have career rebound rates above that. He looks to be pretty elite as a rebounder.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 8:09 amI love what DA give us, but his rebounding hasn't been particularly special yet. Yea no problem about his rebounding numbers, just the effort at times when he's watching the action which happened a few times yesterday. We killed Amar'e for never grabbing double digit boards, now we're unhappy with Ayton grabbing 10-12 with ease?

Ish Smith has been available. We just haven't bothered. Some here said he sucks. To the contrary, since he was here last, he has gotten significantly better. Would have been a nice pick-up.

He was good when he was here and had no semblance of a jump shot. We just had 3 starting pg’s already.
