Maybe it's just that teams are not giving him what he wants to justify losing control. You never know what can happen in a span of say 5 picks.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:22 pmIs James Jones too lazy to trade down? Or is he too scared?Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:20 pmI like having Smith. My question is what could have we added by trading down.

Haliburton / Fox / Hield seems like a really good guard rotation. I hope Sac doesn't ruin them.

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2020
Sidery's tweet really said it best - an athletic 6-10 PF/C who can face up, is more of a PnR threat than Ayton, finishes above the rim and can shoot the 3. He doesn't have a real traditional big's game and isn't a fluid big playing like a perimeter player. I actually think he'll complement Ayton well, can slide over to the 5 in smaller, athletic lineups and is a good fit next to Saric too should we keep him. And he's a guy Chris Paul will make look really good early on while he's still learning the NBA game. Would I take him on a stripped down team and expect him to be a #1 or #2 option? No, but for us right now he can just fit in and do what he does well. ]
I won't sweat not taking the other guards. We have Paul and Book as main ballhandlers and still have Payne and Carter to work with plus any potential FAs.

I agree. I'm nervous about handing the backup keys to Cam Payne without having a real third guard to push him.

And I really like Lewis with the Pels.

What everyone said was that we should have taken Brandon Clarke. Johnson has been fine, but Clarke probably would have been better. We may have Johnson:Clarke::Smith:Halliburton.

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2020
Think we need to look at a ball handler in backcourt or wing with the MLE now

I bet Jones feels good adter finding Payne. Maybe backup pg is not a pressing need in his mind.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:26 pmI agree. I'm nervous about handing the backup keys to Cam Payne without having a real third guard to push him.
Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2020
I just don’t think there is a real justifiable reason for passing on Haliburton. I’m going to be confused about that choice for a long time.
McD favored potential above fit-it feels like Jones’s MO is to favor fit over potential.

Ricky to Minny!?!

I thought Clarke and Haliburton were perfect fits for us. But I'm not disappointed in Cam Johnson, and I do like Smith.

Apparently Kevin WhatsHisFuck is the end all, be all expert on draft picks. Welp, time to grade this pick an F and start protesting downtown tomorrow asking for James Jones resignation.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
