Game Day: Suns (41-16) @ 76ers (39-18), Wed 4/21/21

They had been talking to Book all game. He was just returning the favor. And I think it was Embiid in the middle of that play that was waving his hands at Book telling him he wasn't going to get it off. So it might have been as much to Embiid as the bench.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 6:58 pmI still wouldn't have waved towards the Philly bench smh lol but Book knows Thybulle had him good even if he will not say it for anyone to hear
He actually played smart for the most part, just have to tip the hat to Thybulle. Surely is impressive
Like I said before the game, my concern was if they would actually let DA battle. We were swarming and digging in then they started blowing the whistle in the 2nd quarter but either way no complaints about DA either
The "others" continue to be solid oh well Cam P had a rough one but hey it happens

I was only hoping for a 3-2 road trip. Now I want a 4-1 trip. hahaha
We are going to end it by losing to the Knicks.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

That "I play DEFENSE" tweet from Embiid didn't age well. Ayton has several flaws, but he does play good defense, especially man-to-man.

Some of my notes from the game last night:
NBA TV got off to a rotten start. First they showed a different game and missed the beginning of the Suns game. Then they finally switched to the Suns game and said OK now y’all should be hearing Abdelnaby and blah blah but it was Eddie Johnson and Kevin Ray.
And then halfway through the first-quarter they come back from the commercial break with the Philly guys!
What a great sequence with about three minutes left in the first quarter. Embiid went at Ayton continuously with no luck.
Phillies announcers are total homers.
AFTER my comment, Abdelnaby says: "I’ve been called a homer before but I did not see what Howard did wrong."
Open your eyes! He hacked down on Saric after the free throw was made, idiot.

Agreed. Like with Giannis, most of Embiid's points cam against other Suns.

2 good offensive games in a row for Mikal. Love it.

Yep, about my only knock on our defense would be we switch too much sometimes when we really need Ayton to stay on the big.

I think someone was wondering about this?

I feel you Bone. In the past I've had good impressions of the Philly announcers, but this time they were borderline unbearable. They didn't seem all that interested in the game action itself... completely missed the Crowder ankle sprain until after something like three replays. Couldn't figure out why there was that double technical when the replay clearly showed both guys pushing each other or bother looking up that it was Jevon Carter, or explaining the change in possession.Superbone wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:26 amSome of my notes from the game last night:

A few comments after watching the game that haven't already been mentioned:
Embiid is a large man who is reasonably mobile for his size, but he seems quite prone to quick double teams off the perimeter. That steal from Mikal was gorgeous. Despite the stat lines pointing to the opposite, I think Ayton is better equipped to deal with Embiid than he is Giannis.
Embiid's eurostep moves are very close to travels. He might as well have a cup of coffee while standing on one foot waiting for the defenders to pass. The league needs to look at this stuff a little closer I think. It's one thing with guys like Russ who change directions abruptly with their euro steps but are fast, or with guys like slomo who are slow but maintain that same snail pace on their entire drive, but with Embiid, it does feel very much like he's standing on one foot to take advantage of that timing mismatch.
The quick fourth quarter fouls on Ayton were hard to understand. As others have mentioned, not consistent with the foul calling from the first three quarters.
I feel bad for Saric and I'm a little curious why Kaminsky cannot see the light of day.
Torey Craig has been a great move by Jones. Almost makes up for picking Stix over Haliburton.
