I’ve actually thought about this...if he leaves it’s going to be to the Lakers I’d assume...the only way for him to get paid and go there would be in a S&T for Schroeder...

I don't see him as a James Jones kinda guy.

Not necessarily. Paul could opt-out and just sign with the Lakers. Obviously the Lakers would need to create cap space, but LeGM has a history of pulling stuff like that.

Not sure they can find a team willing to take on enough salary to sign him without taking anything back. If he opts out, it has to be because he is getting a 3 year deal worth a lot more than the 45 he is owed.

I agree it wouldn't be easy to pull off, but it still makes me nervous that the possibility is there. He wouldn't sign for the minimum or something, but how much would he be willing to forego for a chance to play with his buddy and be a title favorite? He's made a ton of money already..

Would Paul be getting MVP talk if he were a Laker? He’s right where he belongs.

I don't see CP3 wanting to leave, unless maybe if we get eliminated in the first round.

I’ve beat on Stix all season for not looking like an NBA player but today he definitely did. I was really surprised.

One main thing he can hopefully take care of this off-season is LASIK eye surgery. He mentioned doing that after he was drafted because he couldn’t afford it but I think because of the short off-season he probably didn’t want to mess with it. Him being able to fully see should open up his development as well as the normal off-season workouts and practices

This feels pretty typical of Suns fans, that we always collectively assume the worst case scenario. If he were to opt out, what's to stop the Suns from signing him for 100 mil over 3 years? Wouldn't that be the most likely scenario?

Lakers are not going to be able to pull this off with their precarious cap situation. But it'd be interesting to see them try. They will approach something like the Warriors, where you literally have 0 depth behind the big 3, and a massive tax bill.

LeBron runs that team, so they'd be playing with fire if he wants Paul and they didn't try to make moves for him.

The Knicks also have a ton of space but they may make a run at Lowry as well.

I think the more likely scenarios are he opts out and signs a longer, cheaper yearly deal with us or just plays out his player option.

I agree. And if he feels the team is committed to doing what it takes to win, he might gladly take less per year to get a longer deal and help the team add/keep more talent.
