Around the League: Week 14 3/22-3/28
Re: Around the League: Week 14 3/22-3/28
Adelman was a flawed coach who had trouble in the playoffs. But he was leaps and bounds better than most of the coaches they've had. And then they briefly got a gem in Mike Malone, but they fired him?! That org is so dysfunctional.

What we already know about our Duo
Was almost expecting to see Mikal in the corner but then was like right it's total points and not FG% so he would never be in contention lol
Speaking of the corner , RJ Barrett is a surprise and Embiid not being in any zone is also very interesting

It would be good to get a team in Seattle. I am not sure if adding two teams makes each team worth a little more, or a little less...

Supply and demand economics says less .. but I’d be supportive of something that diluted the strength of the Western Conference.
If we have to go through the Lakers, Clippers then Jazz just for the right to play, say, the 76ers, the 76ers will kill us on energy levels alone if they can tune up with easy series wins against, say, Washington and New York (before playing a single, tough series pre-finals).

Cue Memphis, New Orleans, and Minnesota fighting over getting to move East. I’d hope they move Memphis...none of those teams are juggernauts, but we really don’t need to be moving bad teams out east. New Orleans, and especially Minnesota have longer histories of being bad.

I would imagine so...I imagine this is a couple years away though

Curry over Paul is ridiculous for MVP.

No way. Curry has been significantly better than Paul this year.

Yeah he’s nearly lead them to a playoff spot. Meanwhile riding high in second place from out of the playoffs last year ..

It’s not an award for the better player. It’s for the most valuable to their team.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 3:13 pmNo way. Curry has been significantly better than Paul this year.

The nba is purposefully vague about what MVP means. It drives up conversation. If you want to argue value to a team, you can put guys like Paul and Gobert high. If you are just looking for the best player, Curry is better.Superbone wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 4:16 pmIt’s not an award for the better player. I personally lean towards best player. My MVP ballot would have been:
1. Jokic
2. Embiid
3. Curry
4. Giannis
5. CP3

OK. Replace Curry with an average point guard and the Warriors would've had the worst record in the West, possibly the whole league.Superbone wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 4:16 pmIt’s not an award for the better player. It's usually someone who's done something remarkable on a team that's done something remarkable, with either being less important when the other is especially remarkable e.g. Russell Westbrook's triple double season or Steve Nash's 7SOL suns.
Curry's had a relatively non-remarkable statistical season on a mediocre team, so deserves less love from me.
Paul has had a remarkable impact on his team, however his stats don't clearly warrant MVP winner status - Jokic, Embiid and Giannis probably add a similar number of wins as Paul does but their stats are better - but if Paul was on the Warriors instead of Curry they'd probably be better, same with the Suns .. so yeah it's comfortably Paul > Curry for me.

We just saw the shooting upgrade from Rubio to Paul. You really think that upgrade from Paul to Curry wouldn't also be a significant jump?
