Better start than I anticipated. The team doesn't appear to be rattled or nervous by the first playoff game. DA being effective inside is huge. That has to continue.
You know it's a big game when the first post after tip off is at the bottom of page 4.

Maybe he should rethink wearing his pajamas to the arena for game 2.

Great win. I was really disappointed in Cam Payne. Not only was he playing horribly but he acted very immature in that altercation. He could have cost us that win. To get thrown out when Paul was clearly hurting? Next level stupid. I hope the locker room let him know.
Go Suns!

Is it weird I’m not nervous???!!! I’m calm as shit. It feels weird.
I was like that for three quarters but then I started imagining it being one of those games where we're ahead the whole game and lose at the end. Nope! :D

Can’t expect Lebron will hit every 3
He did not but it was scary how effortless that first one looked.

Just curious, Ayton haters, where you all at now? Hmm? I seem to recall a lot of people calling my guy a "pussy" and saying he sucks and isn't worth a contract.
Come on now. If you've watched the games you've seen him loaf around too much. That Ayton does suck.
Yep - I was one of the pussy callers and I stand by it. He had a great game today but he can be even better. I still want him to finish and get fouled more. We are very good at the line but seldom get there.

My biggest key to the game was Cam Johnson. We really need this guy. He is another body we can put on Lebron. Now if Cam Payne can turn it around and CP3 can magically get healthy we have something.
Imagine doubling down on this take after the dude puts up 21 points on 91% shooting with 16 rebounds.

What a first playoff game for him! Just like we thought, he is built for this.

Still need to see CP3 hit a pull-up
I feel like he's out there just making sure we run the right stuff but gonna need him to take his shots
I guess one was all he needed.

Agree that half was almost as good as you can get but the Lakers won't miss those outside shots and you can expect AD to get going. We can't have DA in foul trouble, tho Dario is doing as well as he can.
The Dario blocked shot was epic.

I'm sure it was a combination of factors, but I think the rest really helped him. He had an extra burst today.

How about Lakers 16-27 FTs and we're 9-10 FTs. Guess we don't get any home cooking from the refs.
We don't need no stinkin' FTs. We win in spite of the disparity. Call it equal, zebras!

If the Suns can keep it a 10 point lead with 0.0 left in the game I think the Suns win.
You nailed it!

538 has updated our chances in the series: from 37% before the game to 51% now.
There we go. But that's cheating.

538 gives us a 36% chance of making it to the second round.
How about now?
51%.

Yea Payne was a a little more out of control than usual so he needs to settle down. We're going to need him if Paul's injury lingers. If it's a stinger or something more serious, he becomes an offensive liability and the Lakers can double more easily. Also interesting to see Monty go with Moore over Carter for a few minutes. Could've been for a little more size next to Book or maybe Moore is a steadier vet and we know Carter can play like a chicken with its head cut off.

Huge game from DA on both ends. He dominated the boards over AD and finished well enough at the rim, but could've had more if he kept the ball up high at times. Good communication of defense and protected the rim well. Dario had good minutes at the 5 and a huge block for us. DA played a ton so Dario only saw 11 minutes. Probably for the best since he's so overmatched physically. I'd expect the Lakers (refs) to get DA in foul trouble at some point and then we'll see Dario and/or Frank for extended minutes.

Mikal and Cam Johnson both looked steady, tho Mikal should look for the cut at the FT line a bit more and take that jumper. Both played good defense on LBJ as did Crowder. Nothing was easy for him.

Book's a stud. Nothing phases him and he took everything they had and wasn't bothered. I like that his 3 was falling because that really makes him unguardable.

The Lakers played poorly and I don't think we should expect those games to happen that often unless they really are gassed and injured. It'll be Schroder, KCP, Kuz and Caruso who will hurt us. AD had a quiet game but he'll get his. We just can't let the other guys go off the rest of the series.
Nice analysis. Now we need to know we haven't done anything yet. Got to take it to them again in game 2 and take that one too. No letdowns.

We're taking this series. LeBron isn't anywhere close to 100%
It'll go up to 62% after we win game two.

No one would ever complain about him if he played like this every night. This Ayton is going to get a max and is worth it.

Not the time. And it was only one game. Let's hope he can be consistent in the playoffs. He can very easily be the difference maker if he keeps it up.
