I kinda wish the nba would make it easier to trade guys like Love. His contract sucks so no one wants him, but he could be a somewhat useful player to a team in a smaller role. Cleveland has no use for him and probably won’t even play him with the additions of Mobley and Markkanen.
What if the trading team could eat part of the salary? So Cleveland says, hey we will pay 30 million of his salary, so he becomes a 15 million a year player. Easier to match salaries now for trade purposes and Cleveland might actually be able to trade him without attaching multiple 1sts.
It avoids the buyout situation where Cleveland pays love 50 million to sign for the minimum to the Lakers/Nets as a ring chaser. So Cleveland spends less money, Love gets all his money, gets to go somewhere that could use him, and the Nets/Lakers type frontrunners don’t just get gifted a rotation guy.
It would also help circumvent the salary cap and make trades easier in general. I’m all for trading players being easier.
Sounds like Love is only in it for the money. Pass. He's made enough in his career to take a pay cut to play on a winner but he's not interested in that.

Who knows? I might just be a ploy to leverage more money in a buyout.
Either way, he's good for rebounding and shooting, and he's a good passer, but the defense is non-existent.

I really wanted us to get Love, but now I'm not so sure. I worry about his motivation and his physical and mental health. The Olympics were a red flag to me. I was hoping that he still had plenty left in the tank but just didn't want to waste it on a bad Cleveland season. But then if that were the case you'd think he would be motivated to play well for the Olympic team. Instead he showed up totally unready to contribute and was sent home. I would still definitely take Love on a minimum-ish contract, but I'd be very leery of giving up actual assets or money for him right now.
Btw my mom worked late last night so we couldn’t evacuate. Kinda sucks if you are aware of the struggles we have been having. Throw some prayers my way if you believe in that sort of thing.

"I'm a Deandre Ayton guy."--Al McCoy, September 21, 2022.
I won't completely write the Lakers off just because of their collective age but similar to last season, they'll be a tough matchup for us. We're still light in the 3/4 spots and not just with depth but also size/bulk. Craig helped as a stronger, bigger defender. Mikal and Cam are lightweights who can get pushed around by LeBron and now Melo. Thad would obviously help some, but if we can't get him we'll probably need another 6-7/6-8 230ish type of defender.
The Ws, Clips, Nets and Bulls seem to be interested in Millsap. We probably could've had in at this point if we wanted him?
Ben Simmons is done in Philadelphia. Don't expect the Suns to be involved: there's no way to make the salaries match with what we have on hand (Well, Ok, Crowder, Saric, Smith, and Ayton would work numerically, but we wouldn't do it)
