These last 30 seconds of game time is tough to watch...

Loved what I saw of Cam J today. Very aggressive. Didn't really want to see Crowder replace him the last few minutes.

They really need to find a way to eliminate end of game fouling as a beneficial strategy. It helped us tonight, but it makes for ugly basketball. Problem is it’s hard to do without making a fairly significant change. I’d love to explore the Elam ending more(just for OT) but that’s pretty drastic. I’m cool with just giving the team fouled the option to take it side out. Would fix both situations of fouling to get the ball back and fouling to not allow a 3pt shot.
The problem is it makes it hard to comeback if you’re down, the other team has the ball, and the shot clock is turned off. You’d just have to play defense and hope for a turnover. The frantic defense might be kinda fun honestly.

Phewwwww! Suns gave me a bit more anxiety than I was hoping for, but they pulled it out. There were several moments in the 4th where we'd get up by 8-10 points and I thought we'd put them away, but they kept clawing back. I like this Cavs team. And I'm happy Rubio is playing an important role for them. He's a nice PG and deserves a good team to play on.
Booker had the gaudy stats, but I thought several other guys played well. I am just so happy with JaVale. He had 13 and 12 for us in just 20 minutes of play; that's incredible. Cam Johnson also had a nice game with 14 points. CP3's steady hand also helped us close the game out in the end. This is such a fun team.
Only real disappointment to me, as usual, has been Landry Shamet. Tonight he had 0 points on 0-2 shooting in 16 minutes. I wish he would find a way to make more of a contribution. Hopefully he's getting more comfortable over time.

14 in a row by the skin of their teeth! I’ll take it. Next up, the NY Knicks followed by the showdown in Brooklyn.

I watched a recording of the second half because I missed it. The refs were terrible and screwed both teams a few times.
Say what you will about the tactic of fouling while ahead late, but it totally fucked with Rubio.
I think there were 8 seconds left when Monty had Mikal intentionally foul Rubio. He was at the line with the Suns up 3. Missed the first, looked to the bench and asked Bickerstaff if he should miss the second ( ), and hit the second free throw. Booker goes 1/2 on the other end and Monty has Mikal foul Rubio in the back court again. Rubio missed the first again and then completely missed everything on an intentional miss (hard to do). The Suns iced it but Rubio had one last shot, an airball from 30 feet at the horn. I felt bad for him by the end of it but it was classic Rubio.
I'm curious to see the contract the Cavs offer Garland next summer. I think he's on a trajectory for a max contract, but things might get a little shaky if they keep Sexton on a large deal. Garland's contract situation doesn't really fit the Suns timeline, but I'd love to see him on the Suns someday. I think he'll be a top PG in the league in his prime.

Veteran play by McGee. You've got to know the rules and take advantage of them. Smart play and X gets the square.

Really enjoying our "Spurs-ian" type wins this season
Nice to be on the other side of being the team who executes better late.
My lil tidbits....
Was a bit disappointed in Cam P first shift. We know he's more of a spark, scoring guard than a PG but I continue to hope that part develops. Case in point, last night Book is absolutely cooking and CP3 goes to the bench at his usual time with like 5mins left and Book gets 1 or 2 shots/touches the next few possessions down.
Mikal goes to the table to check in for Book with just under 2mins left and Book probably notions to Monty to leave him on and Mikal goes back. Think he only got the ball once again and scored. Monty doubles down by letting Book even start the 2nd quarter after playing the whole 1st and I just think we didn't feed the hot hand enough and like I said mixed in there was some of those possessions where Cam pulls a quick transition shot or goes PnR drive with nobody else getting a touch.
CP3 after hitting a big pull-up as per usual to put the lead to 4 I think then next possession he dished to DA who wasn't ready then had a for sure pull-up and decided to pass to Mikal in the corner for 3 who I didn't think expected that either. Probably intentional by him to put them in position to seal the game but were interesting decisions watching real time
Mikal's block was the play of the game for me. Osman really was cooking, my face was stuffed with humble pie because I was certain he was going to cool off. Crowd was really into it and a score there would have been a huge bucket
Think tonight was a nice prelude and warmup for a potential Book gem in MSG

It was an absolutely terrible call and they really screwed the Cavs with it.

They need to change the rule then. Otherwise it's just a smart play.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 2:21 pmIt was an absolutely terrible call and they really screwed the Cavs with it.
