Gobert to Celtics for Al Hortford and Robert Williams?
Adding Gobert with Marcus Smart would make a monster defensive combo.

Gobert still can’t move his feet laterally enough to survive being switched on to perimeter players. In the playoffs he’ll resort to drop coverage. Again, we’ll feast off that. His teammates being better won’t change that.
In the modern NBA, if you can’t hold your own on the perimeter- you’re not a max big man. Certainly a so called “defensive” max guy.
I wouldn’t max Jokic either. No freaking way. Dude can’t keep up and gets toasted in the playoffs, regardless of his teammates his individual liability defensively is atrocious

Rudy isn’t Bam on switches, but he does fine on switches. Where the Jazz get annihilated is they start two 6’1 guards that can keep anyone in front of them and their so called defensive stopper is a slow footed 6’4 guard. Then they have another very slow of foot wing for their final starter. They are all awful perimeter defenders. Rudy does better on switches than any of them do on perimeter guys.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 12:32 pmGobert still can’t move his feet laterally enough to survive being switched on to perimeter players. This is craziness. Is the standard for a max a perfect player?specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 12:32 pm

No, but certainly your super max player should be playable. He’s absolute BBQ chicken out there defensively.Shabazz wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 7:18 pmThis is craziness. Is the standard for a max a perfect player?specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 12:32 pm

That’s just not true anymore. He’s actually pretty good on that end. His team really just sucked this year.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 8:41 pmNo, but certainly your super max player should be playable. Rather you didn’t watch the Warriors series or you watched an entirely different series than me. He was lost on D and slow on rotations the entire seriesShabazz wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 8:49 pmThat’s just not true anymore. He’s actually pretty good on that end. They were totally overmatched on the perimeter.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 8:58 pmRather you didn’t watch the Warriors series or you watched an entirely different series than me. There are very few (if any) bigs that can stay with Steph and Poole on switches. Embiid with Bones Hyland and Austin Rivers would have looked equally bad.

If you wouldn't max Nikola Jokic, I don't know what to tell you.
Re: Around the League: Week 28 (4/25 - 5/1)
Well, and he was going against the current title favorites and has a team with almost nothing outside of him.Shabazz wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 9:35 pmThey were totally overmatched on the perimeter.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 8:58 pmRather you didn’t watch the Warriors series or you watched an entirely different series than me. Interesting piece from 2 Aussie blokes having a yarn
I remember SGA convincing him all season to get a Twitter account so this makes sense.

What’s Embiid’s connection to France? He wants to take Rudy’s spot? Haha
