I'm much lower on Kenrich Williams than Roby.

He shoots a bit better than Okogie, but I see them in more or less the same role as defensive energy/rebounding guys.

If I remember right, Roby played really well against us when we got spanked late in the season.

I like Roby more too but seems very unlikely we can even get him. Doubt he will even clear waivers. Williams is probably an easier get than Roby.

Williams, Mike Muscala for Craig and two 2nd round picks might get it done. But it’s all moot until a KD deal gets done.

That would be a good deal for the Suns under the presumption a KD trade goes through. (which I think will this week)

Williams is a much better defender and passer than Roby. Roby is also wildly inconsistent.

Looks like we’d have to hope he clears waivers
We should have offered a cash trade to OKC instead of Atlanta.

We still have an Ayton trade to make if KD doesn’t pan out.
Says who?
Everyone. There is no way he plays out a contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Ayton sees that the Suns dont value him. Seems pretty easy here.

Sure, money talks, but you can't pay something more than what you believe they are worth just to appease them, that is a recipe for disaster.

Yeah, didn't say we should do that. We'll pay him what the market dictates.

By that logic he won’t be playing for any of the other 29 teams either.

Get Durant, keep Ayton, do your best with the wing positions. Send out as many draft picks as it takes. Commit to winning over tanking.

To be fair, they all need cap space to sign him. We don't. And only a couple even had enough to give him a decent contract.

But to your point, the value DA and his agent placed on him is WAY higher than what the GMs put on him. I mean his agency kept saying there were multiple teams waiting to offer him a max deal. Lying like that is a huge gamble and if it doesn't pay off, your clients lose trust. Good thing he has such a long track record of making it work for his clients.

That's how it is when you go top heavy on stars tho. The depth takes a hit - like Philly, BK, Lakers, LBJ/DWade Heat teams. You end up with 9th/10th guys starting or in the 6th/7th man roles.
That's why I prefer to not build that way.

When the Heat did it, it made sense because the guys were so young. But going that route with guys at or near the end of their careers seems like you are just setting yourself up for failure.

I don't think those are the only options, or that trading every single draft pick is the only way to "commit to winning." In fact Golden State and San Antonio have both shown otherwise.

Back to Okogie:

He essentially hasn't improved on anything since coming into the league. But he still has great athleticism, great measurables, good motor, and is only 23. Maybe this is where Mutombo's value comes to the fore, and he can tap into some of Okogie's unrealized potential.
