To be fair, there are several plays where he pick and rolls or gets position and is completely ignored. On some occassions, he's sealed in the paint and isn't even putting his arms up, like he just knows he won't be getting it.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
Re: All Things Ayton
I don’t think we need 25 or 30 unless all of the big 3 are out. He is just there to fill in as a 3rd option if one of them is out. Ayton was not scoring 30 either with the big 3 all playing.

I know it’s a small sample size of 1 game but Nurkic is better in every aspect over Deandre Ayton. If we had him in the 2021 finals, we would’ve won.*

I think his nickname going forward will be "bruised ribs".
Re: All Things Ayton
I want to wait and see how durable DomiNurkic can be. I loved the way he played the other night, and if he keeps that up, I'll be happy with this trade. But a lot of the criticism of Nurk is about his durability, so if he misses half the season, that'll take my appraisal of the trade down a notch.
Re: All Things Ayton
A lot of the criticism (from Blazers fans) is also his consistency in his production and effort level. But of course the Hayters are going to ignore that.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 12:36 pmI want to wait and see how durable DomiNurkic can be. Perfect opportunity for DA to “change the narrative.” Portland fans will recognize and appreciate consistent effort. We’ll see if DA’s up to it.JeremyG wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 12:41 pmA lot of the criticism (from Blazers fans) is also his consistency in his production and effort level. Well, I won’t because I don’t have League Pass and the Blazers aren’t on National TV much, but somebody will.

Re: All Things Ayton
It's a very long season. There's plenty of time for DA to have a great season in Portland and prove all the haters wrong. And if Nurkic can't hold up, that'll reveal itself, too. No need for anybody to jump to conclusions after one game.

Hey, now. This thread is about Ayton. Not Nurkic.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 12:36 pmI want to wait and see how durable DomiNurkic can be. Re: All Things Ayton
I’ll be watching Ayton’s Blazers debut tonight. I’d be happy for Ayton to have success in Portland. Hoping to see some growth from him. Like I did when he was in Phoenix but it’s so much easier when his inconsistencies don’t affect my team. I don’t appreciate how anybody that doesn’t praise him unconditionally is labeled a hayter.Cap wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 12:50 pmPerfect opportunity for DA to “change the narrative.” Portland fans will recognize and appreciate consistent effort. If it’s about DomiNurkic. I’d argue it’s still somewhat about Ayton.Superbone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 1:17 pmHey, now. This thread is about Ayton. Did anyone ever talk about how bad STAT was for a player nickname? DominAyton only stands out because of the lack of DominAyton being had.
Re: All Things Ayton
I'm just disappointed that my DA nickname never caught on: the Bahamian Behemoth.

Lol, it fits a lot better for a 7-footer.

Re: All Things Ayton
STAT was self-applied too. Nobody would care if DominAyton actually lived up to the talk. He draws criticism for talking the talk without walking the walk.
