Re: Suns News: Week 4 (11/13 - 11/19)
The Knicks overpaid Amare. He wasn't the same after he started missing games during his second season with the Knicks.
Was it shitty of Sarver to publicize the health aspect of their reasoning? Of course, that's who Robert Sarver is, but it doesn't change the fact that it was the right decision from a team building standpoint. Unfortunately, they completely shit the bed when it came to rebuilding that team.

I have a lot of sadness and regrets about botched decisions made by this franchise over the years. Letting Amare go to the Knicks is not one of them. He had one, exactly one, great season after he left Phoenix. Then the rest of that contract was an absolute albatross, an anchor weighing the Knicks franchise down for half a decade. I love, love Amare and what he did for the Suns. But by 2010 we knew that his body was a ticking time bomb and that it wasn't a good gamble to give him a max contract. I think we absolutely made the right decision.
We then immediately buried that right decision underneath 3 horrible decisions by signing Hedo, Childress, and Warrick. Some folks point out that it would have been better to just re-sign Amare than sign those 3 bums. Maybe. But that's the wrong way to look at it. Both of those choices were shitty. Signing Amare and then having him break down after 1 year would barely have been better than the puu-puu platter of signings we made. The right choice is "none of the above", neither re-signing Amare nor signing those 3 turds.

Does Beal have a disc issue or something?

Who knows at this point. I heard he was a bit injury prone before we got him. I thought that was an exaggeration. But I mean, it is what it is. It's not his fault.

It seems as though you've got a bone to pick with Beal lol.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 6:29 pmWho knows at this point. I heard he was a bit injury prone before we got him. I thought that was an exaggeration. But I mean, it is what it is. It's not his fault.
I'm just wondering because muscular issues don't usually fluctuate in the back like this, having had disc issues/nerve impingement it comes and goes like this quite a bit, one wrong step and you're down for a week.
Re: Suns News: Week 4 (11/13 - 11/19)
I have trouble with my 44-year-old back these days. I will be just fine for weeks, able to lift weights and run and do all sorts of activity. Then I'll reach for some Lego on the floor or pick up some toddler, and I'll feel a muscle in my lower back just give out, almost a pop. And it'll hurt like the dickens. Sometimes it hurts so much that I'm basically out of commission for a whole day or more. Then I have to go into rehab mode for a week or so, wearing a back brace, putting ice on it, resting, until it stops hurting. The cycle repeats every few months or so. I think I have a pinched nerve or sciatica or something like that, but I haven't had it examined by a specialist or anything.
I have some sympathy for Beal if he has back problems. It's really hard to keep them under control. It just sort of keeps re-injuring itself until you take a ton of time off, and even then it comes back if you make a wrong move.

If it is disc issue, what kind of timetable are we looking at?
Re: Suns News: Week 4 (11/13 - 11/19)
It took MPJ about 2 years to get back to 100%. Obviously people are different and if there is a herniation, how big it is, if there is nerve damage, etc.Wally_West wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:31 pmIf it is disc issue, what kind of timetable are we looking at?

AlexB is kind of an ass in KnicksTwitter land so I don't know if he's making that stuff up about the Suns and their fans laughing at the Knicks over signing Amar'e. I don't remember anything like that at all. I think the org, the fans and Amar'e all felt like it was time to move on. The 7SOL era was over and the Suns were trying to rebuild on the fly. The report at the time, not sure if it was true or not, was that the Suns medical staff didn't think Amar'e's knees would hold up over 5 years so the Suns only offered 60mil over 3 while the Knicks offered 100mil over 5. It was what it was. The Suns tried to fill the void with Hedo and Childress (both Babby guys) and Warrick. Didn't work out.

If we had won a championship that first year of the new contract, it would have been worth it. So it can't be said with certainty that it was the right decision. We had just finished a season two wins away from the Finals. What rational front office would think it's time for a rebuild?Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:23 pmI have a lot of sadness and regrets about botched decisions made by this franchise over the years. I think the Gorilla in your avatar kneed him in the back.

For the record, Beal has no history of back issues. My back used to go out on me once a year (at least). Since I lost weight and started working out regularly, I haven't had any back issues. For me, I think it was mostly a matter of strengthening my core.

And stretching the right muscles. I have figured out after have lower back issues for years that a back going out is often a muscle spasming and locking up. Stretching and manipulating help tremendously.

According to Bourguet, Beal's already had an MRI which ruled out anything structural. As a result , the belief is that this is muscular.specialsauce wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:03 pmThat’s probably a foregone conclusion. This is not good

I think you're right. Someone let Brad know to get back to the lab and start working out. I know I'm overly critical but... excuse me. I need to take a cold shower.

Ha ha. Yeah, his core doesn't seem to be an issue. Hopefully, this is just a temp thing.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 3:05 amI think you're right. Someone let Brad know to get back to the lab and start working out. I know I'm overly critical but... excuse me. I need to take a cold shower.
