How far will the Suns get this season?

Post by Mori Chu »

We've now seen 68 games of this season's Suns team. Their record is 39-29, putting them at the #8 seed in the very stacked West. The question is, how far do you think the Suns will go this season? Choose the answer that best describes what you think will happen.

Before looking, I chose 1st Round but this is with the caveat that I think we could go to the 2nd round if we get the TWolves in the first round.

A 1st round loss feels like the most likely

The poll results tend to bear that out so far.

It's getting to that point for a lot of people.

I voted play in as I think it’s more likely we lose than win a one-off against the Warriors or Lakers. Bizarrely if we can somehow jag the 6th see I feel we might be able to make a real run, especially if we get the Twolves first up. Unfortunately our litany of bad losses and blown opportunities are most likely to bite us in the ass as we just miss that 6 spot.

Well we would get 2 chances to win in the play-in…we’d have to lose to Dallas or Sacramento before we get into a one-off vs GS or LAL

Plus, if you have to finagle your matchups to be favorable, you’re a lost cause. A good championship team doesn’t care who they play.

You’re assuming we don’t fall to 9th or 10th.

It's just not been a fun season to watch. If we by some miracle win it all, it would be a very bizarre feeling because I hate watching this band.

I voted "1st round" but I could totally see us losing in the play-in.

Aren't "play-in" and "miss the playoffs entirely" the same thing? Or are you giving an option for the Suns to finish 11th?

They'll finish somewhere between the WCF and losing in the play-in. That's how confident I am in projecting the success of this team from game to game.

Nobody asked about confidence. What’s your prediction?

I predict no one will be satisfied.

Ask me when the regular season is finished.

Dude, that's not how it works. It's just a guess with the current information at hand. I'm sure you're right about that first statement though.

Yes we’ve got a pretty big lead on LAL/GS and neither of those teams are playing all that well either. We’d probably need to go like 5-9 or 6-8 at the best to fall that far.

Actually I just read the standings wrong…I thought we were 3.5 games ahead but we are 2.5 games ahead of LA and they have the tiebreaker. GS won’t catch us as they are 3.5 games back and we have the tiebreaker. But I guess it is possible LA could catch us. If we go 6-8 they’d need to go 8-5. I still think it’s unlikely though, we’re a better team than LA. I think we will go 8-6…Lakers won’t finish 10-3.

Suns get to finals against Boston, win game 5 in triple OT only to lose game 7 in a laugher.
