It’s hardly a new thing. Back in 2012 Sarah Palin made a big thing of complaining about “gotcha” questions. Republicans continued to complain about gotcha questions for a year or two, then adopted the strategy of simply ignoring any unfriendly questions. You come into your interview with your talking points. You give the interviewer their turn and let them ask their question, then you take your turn and recite your talking points. Show how strong you are by not allowing the enemy any control of the conversation.
