Several earlier posts commented about understanding how anyone could vote for Trump. I found this an interesting read.

https://www.thefp.com/p/why-americas-zo ... re-turning
The article says Gen Z is moving towards Trump, but I don’t really buy it…most of their examples of young people supporting Trump were already conservative…there were a couple examples of people who said they are switching…2 of them said it’s because of gas prices(which the article states has nothing to do with Biden). The other’s reasoning was she hated Trump because she thought he was racist and now thinks his racist comments are just jokes and that as a catholic she can’t vote for someone who supports abortion(so she was conservative to begin with as well). Other examples were people just being impressed with how cool he looked after the assassination attempt.

The article does show why people vote for him…they blame their financial struggles on Biden or they have conservative values like pro-life. Or they are drawn to the tough guy, won’t fall in line, persona. I get it…I have a lot of family that supports him for the same reasons(my family is all white, middle to upper class, heterosexual conservative christians.

I don’t personally claim to know who would help the economy more. In a lot of ways I personally am better off financially now than I was under Trump(though I wish interest rates would drop as I’m trying to buy a home). My reason for not voting for Trump comes down to the fact that I don’t think he’s a good person. I don’t believe he truly cares about the people of this country(though I do think he’d love to get credit for making people’s lives better). Unfortunately I think he also enjoys making people’s lives who disagree with him(or cross him) worse. I don’t think he cares who he tramples to get his way. He wants power and if that hurts LGBTQ, minorities, non-Christians, etc. so be it. I don’t believe most Trump supporters are racist, sexist, homophobic bigots, but he has empowered the extremists within the country that are and doesn’t do enough to condemn or silence them.

I’m not voting for Biden either…I don’t think he is remotely capable of being president in his current mental state….we’ll see if he steps down. I’d have to look more into Kamala Harris if he does.
Those Gen Zers just come off as idiots. They believe whatever they read on social media. I am convinced that social media is ruining our country. All these conspiracies used to be confined to the National Enquirer and now it's all over the place and consumed like candy. People have lost their ability to read multiple sources and discern the truths. Now the extremes (yes, both sides) are feeding the masses.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

At this point, split, I'm very tempted to just condense my media consumption to your posts on this board and have you be my guiding light.... in life, and Beyond.🥹

Does anyone know when was the last time before the assassination attempt, that CNN aired a Trump rally live?

Couldn't possibly be any rhetoric by these winners.

The media has been really pathetic in this election cycle. If you watched any part of Trump's speech last night, these headlines are completely laughable. I think they wrote the articles before they even heard the speech, or something. Or maybe they're just morons.

I take it he didn’t speak about unity?

The first ~ 15 minutes of the speech were genuinely interesting and well done; he spoke about the assassination attempt from his own perspective. Strong stuff for him. Then he kind of pivoted into a standard stump speech. Word has it that he strayed from the teleprompter a lot, veering into rambling stories (Hannibal Lecter, Kim Jong Un, windmills and birds, pedos, post-birth abortions, whatever). Total speech time was around 93 minutes, an eternity. He didn't give a "unity" speech; he repeatedly insulted his opponents like "Crazy Nancy Pelosi" and Joe Biden as the worst President of all time and so on, and gave all the standard lines from his rallies. It's the same old Trump. Except a bit slower and more boring since he's almost 80 years old.

When you judge others, you are judging yourself. Couldn't be more apt here.

The whole RNC was a swampy cultish cesspool of lies and bullshit and ring-kissing. They had a whole day devoted to "Making America Safe Again" (crime rates have steadily dropped under Biden) and lots of talk about fixing the horrible US economy (which has by most metrics been very strong the past few years and continues to have great numbers every month). It's just an alternate reality BS conservative bubble completely detached from any kind of reality.

His speech was on unity. I'm not sure where you came up with your critique of it to say it wasn't?

Saying that the crime statistics are better, is blatantly ignoring that police departments are not charging crimes, and AG & DA-s are refusing to prosecute those crimes. On top of it, some states aren't even reporting crimes to the FBI any longer, so it skews the numbers drastically.

The economy is NOT "by most metrics been very strong the past few years and continues to have great numbers every month". This is laughable, as the middle class has shrunk, less people are able to purchase a home, credit card debt has sky rocketed, savings has nearly disappeared, the lower class has increased, and inflation is at least 20% higher than 3 yrs ago, and gas prices are over twice what they were before. Denying that is showing that inflation has no effect on you.
