I shit so hard on the trade and Beal for the longest time after we got him and received a lot of pushback until I finally relented to give it a chance. Big fucking nope. I knew it was a bullshit trade from the get go. Good numbers on arguably the worst team with a history of injuries and a somewhat redundant skill set to Booker. That's what we needed! The decline of Booker has coincided with Beal cursing this roster. Booker was still elite when we traded for KD and was playing great when it was just the Big 2. Getting Beal was such a massive blunder.specialsauce wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 10:55 pmExactly. He is impossible to root for. He's the softest player to ever don a Suns jerseyAmareIsGod wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 7:20 pmWe'll be lucky if he plays in 45. I'd safely wager the under on 56. It's not just the fact that he's always injured, it's the fact that his injuries are hip bruises (tonight) and other little things he can't play through. He's like Mr. Glass with the pain tolerance of my 5 year old daughter.Split T wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 4:24 pmThe suns being bad is messing with your perception. He’s on pace to play 56 games this year. Yes he’s injury prone and yes he’s overpaid, thats why talking about role players like KCP is even a question. He’s a lot better than KCP, who’s been really bad for Orlando this year.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I got fooled into thinking it was a bunch of missed games due to "injuries" aka wizards tanking. Boy is he a losing playerAmareIsGod wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 11:04 pmI shit so hard on the trade and Beal for the longest time after we got him and received a lot of pushback until I finally relented to give it a chance. Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
IMO the reason the NBA ratings are down isn't because of players taking rest nights, nor because of the proliferation of 3s, nor the lack of a new generational American-born star, or any of that nonsense. The lack of fan interest comes down to one single thing, one crucial flaw:
The games don't matter.
With an 82-game season, each individual game carries very little weight, so there's no real point in watching. It's just like baseball in that way; they have 162 games or whatever they have, so each one means jack squat. Football by contrast, each week the game means a heck of a lot, it's appointment viewing. It's not inherent in the sport; college basketball has around 30 games a year and those seem to really matter.
I don't really think it is fixable; they would never change to, say, a 40-game season, so it is just going to continue the way it is.

I don’t think the nba is that concerned with viewership. The things you guys mention are definitely impacting it, but they just signed a massive new media rights deal…they are obviously doing fine viewership wise. I think by far the biggest reason for a decline in viewership is the overall decline in cable television. Getting into the streaming world is going to help.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Does anyone really, truly care about NBA tv ratings?
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
People love to point out they are dropping
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
It has been an 82 game season since long before they started getting on national TV in the first place. That’s not the reason ratings are dropping.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 7:30 amIMO the reason the NBA ratings are down isn't because of players taking rest nights, nor because of the proliferation of 3s, nor the lack of a new generational American-born star, or any of that nonsense. For me…. Load management IS one of the main reasons I don’t watch consistently. If my team isn’t going to give 100% night in and night out, why should I? Same goes for tickets…. I’m pretty lucky and usually get free tickets from my brother in law but am definitely looking at the game schedule if I’m buying tickets. I’ll never buy any back to back games.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:25 amWhat are your thoughts on why ratings are dropping?Cap wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 8:46 amIt has been an 82 game season since long before they started getting on national TV in the first place. Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
He means the Suns trade pieces (Beal) aren't a good fit for what Miami wants. Not that Butler would be a bad fit here.

Yeah, he explained it in a reply:

I didn't read it that way nor does he say that.

It's kinda hilarious that the entire league is less interested in Beal than we are. Sad.
Love, Hurts.

Such an absolutely maddening and moronic trade we made to get Beal. Ugh.
