It also sounds like no matter what, Beal is probably getting traded. Split was speculating how to get out of the second apron yesterday and it sounds like we are already making plans to do so.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Base on what KD’s podcast homie is saying, it kinda sounds like if we get Jimmy, who wants to sign a 3/110(that’d be awesome tbh) then KD would be willing to sign for less money to help the team, which…

Yep…Jimmy at 3/110 makes it possible to get out. Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Outside of OKC, no one in west really scares me. That’s just me tho.
Regardless of Jimmy, center upgrade needs to be priority.
A Tyus-Book-Jimmy-KD-Richards
Grayson-Royce-Dunn-Oso is definitely a major upgrade to me but just cuz it’s upgrade don’t mean it’s not a second round exit.
But if you get Playoff Jimmy and Playoff Book? …I like to see that very much.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I just don't see this team making any real postseason noise even if we get Jimmy Butler. Butler is yet another finisher like Book and KD who is best with the ball in his hands. He works great on that Miami team with a bunch of rough tough role players who play great defense and buy into a team system. They also have a very good to elite defensive center in Bam. The Miami teem needed a finisher, somebody they can throw the ball to and get them a key basket down the stretch.
This team isn't like that. We're just swapping one hired gun for another, yet another guy who thinks he is "the man." We still won't have much of any athleticism (outside of one rookie), elite defense (outside of one rookie), rebounding, post protection, people who can roll to the basket, guys who can initiate an offense. We can't guard anybody. We let teams trot to the basket over and over for layups, and when we get bored of doing that, we give their best shooters open 3s. And we'll still have a bunch of finishers trying to initiate our offense and then losing the ball when they get double-teamed.
This team is cooked. Jimmy Butler is not the savior.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I agree he’s not the savior, but I think you sell Jimmy short a bit. He’s a very good play initiator. He is better with the ball in his hands, but I thought we wanted the ball out of KD’s hands anyways? Jimmy is also a fantastic defensive player and a good athlete. There’s very few SF’s that are a better fit between Book and KD than Jimmy.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:27 pmI just don't see this team making any real postseason noise even if we get Jimmy Butler. I’m also skeptical this makes us a contender, but I don’t really see the argument that this trade wouldn’t move the needle. Beal for Butler is a massive upgrade imo. Jimmy can rebound, defend, play point forward, and might just be the asshole our players will respond to.
Yes we still have a C issue, but unless we’re trading for Jokic, we aren’t fixing all our problems with 1 player.
Booker/Allen/Butler/KD/Richards
Jones/Royce/Dunn/Oso
How many teams in the west are you confident are better than that 9-man rotation in the playoffs?
I don’t know if people have paid a lot of attention, but to me it’s OKC then a huge gap to Houston/Memphis/Denver, then another gap to everyone else. We’re not catching OKC…but would you be that shocked for the team above to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in a playoff round? I wouldn’t.
I’m not expecting a WCF trip or anything, but I’m just not scared of the west(outside of OKC).
My other thing is what do we have to lose? The current team isn’t even making the playoffs. We aren’t blowing up the roster mid-season, at least give me a team that can play a competitive series against those 2-4 teams in the west. We can always blow it up next summer.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I hear what you're saying. We are probably better with Butler than Beal, so if it's really essentially a swap of those two guys, sure, you probably do it. But I am really worried about throwing in picks and other assets to get this done. I really don't want to lose the 2031 1st, and I am very afraid that that's what it is going to take to get Miami to do the deal.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Ya, it’s definitely going to take that…I guess I’m less concerned about that pick. Are you hoping to use it for something else? Or you just want to use it to draft a player?

Getting out of the 2nd apron is enough for me and the Jimmy trade seems like path to that so let’s go.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
If he and KD wanna take less to play together and let the Suns get some flex away from the apron it's hard to say no given how pot committed this team already is.Wally_West wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:56 pmGetting out of the 2nd apron is enough for me and the Jimmy trade seems like path to that so let’s go.

I’m not afraid that that’s what it is going to take to get Miami to do the deal. I’m afraid that that’s not what it is going to take to get Ish to not do the deal.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:02 pmI hear what you're saying. Come on, Ish, you can just say no… or can you?

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
So Eddie Gonzalez is the new flex? Were those the guys the ones talking trade scenarios that weren't possible due to the CBA?
There's always going to be posturing going on but Riley's not going to take a deal he doesn't want and if we want Jimmy, we've got to do the leg work to make a 3-4 team deal possible. And even if the offers are worth it now, they may be even better a month from now.

Eddie Gonzalez is personal friends with KD and his podcast homie. So not a flex situation at all. So Eddie probably has inside knowledge, cuz KD probably told him lol. He honestly should shut up haha
but anyways…
but anyways…
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
The Florida guy seems like a Heat mouthpiece here, because Butler doesn't give a shit about anything but what he wants, he'll torpedo whatever he has to. Heat are trying to strong arm him and it won't work.
Love, Hurts.
