My sources say the trade goes down tomorrow
Just get him suited by Saturday for the game I’m going to…. I’ll be happy.
We'll allow you to come out of your room for that one. You're welcome.

I'd take Jabari Smith and Reed Sheppard in a heartbeat.
So an underperforming 3rd year player who's expecting a max extension despite not showing that return value and a 3rd overall pick who's only performed in the G-League.

Sounds like just as much of a risk as going with the old guys KD and Butler to me.
Jabari Smith isn't getting a max extension (Jalen Green didn't even get a max extension). Regardless of his draft position, his defense and stretch ability are extremely valuable and not easily found. He is a disappointment relative to his draft position, but I don't let that obscure the value he brings on the court.

And it isn't just about those two guys; it's being able to aggregate salaries, not having frozen picks, being to sign free agents, having a full compliment of picks to either use in a trade or draft.

Inf's point about Cuban and the Mavs was spot on. Cuban even said the strategy of spending and paying for names wasn't sustainable and he had to change course.

And yea, I wouldn't expect Amen in a deal but at least Smith or Tari plus one of our picks, Reed, and ending salaries. Best of all worlds with young players, picks and clear some capspace. You won't get equal return for KD but you can put young guys who hustle and are moldable around Book and rebuild the foundation to attract another star (who fits) in a year or two.

I think that team is pretty good and well balanced. Think the 4th and 5th starters could be any of the top 9(Oso isn’t starting). I went with Grayson for the shooting, but Dunn for defense makes sense. Royce a mix of the two. Can keep Tyus if you feel we need a pg…I don’t with Booker and Jimmy out there. Could even start Portis(in place of Richards or alongside him if you want to go super big).

If Tyus goes to Miami in the trade, just put Morris in at the backup 1.
Ok ok where we sending Royce to after that because he damn sure ain't on this team if we want to win. Have to trim the stupid
Poor Royce is Saucy's target this season. Sorry, O'Neale. It always has to be somebody. You're it for some reason.
So you're saying I only have one target?

Nurk?? Plumlee? The Slim Parasite??

All the stupid ones must go. You guys know me by now. I don't like low IQ basketball players. Royce's turnovers and defensive miscues are insufferable.

Part of why I loved our finals team.

CP3. Mikal. Booker. Cam.

All smart players who played within themselves.

A shame CP turned 37 and lost his ability.
Yeah, my bad. I spoke out of turn. You have multiple targets. But usually one that is inexplicable. Royce does more good than harm. He's the least of our worries. The Slim Turnover on the other hand never seems to make an adjustment to his stupid passes.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Keep fighting the good fight, FF. I for one appreciate it. All takes can't be doom and gloom but that seems to be the modus operandi around here.
If Ishbia spending money wheelin' and dealin' is enough for a fan, that's fine. I just don't think it needs to turn into the Gloom Police, although we always reach that point on this site.

I feel like we're all eating at a fancy restaurant and the food doesn't taste good, but there is a group telling us we should just appreciate the ambiance.
I think it’s more like we sent the food back and are waiting to see what the next dish tastes like…ya there’s a chance all the food sucks, but the owner is sparing no cost to try and make the food better.
The same recipe is being used. And we've had more than one course.

I sincerely disagree.

Remember when the Suns were crushing the league and won 64 games? How'd that turn out?

The playoffs are not the NBA season.
Bruh, the Cavs are first or second round fodder waiting to happen. That team has regular season trophy written all OVER it. I'll bet anything you want. If the Cavs make it to the finals I'll delete my account for you.
IDK why you're quoting me. I agree.
I disagree with both of you. I think the Cavs scream regular season team to me, remember the 64 win suns team? How that work out?
You guys don't know what you're talking about! Sure, the Cavs are playing great in the regular season. Not the playoffs, not the playoffs! They are destined for an early playoff exit. Does NOBODY remember the Suns team from only a couple years ago that had our best regular season record EVER?! Remember what happened in those playoffs? Yeah, I didn't think so.
Ah yes, wasn't that the season where our 'franchise player' went missing in game 7 of the Mavs series, we had old father time at PG and Javale McGee was our backup center? Yep, remember that one!

I never actually said the Cavs would win it this year only that teams like them, the Thunder and the Rockets would continue to strengthen.

This is why I don't entirely grasp the rampant pessimism or some of the Ishbia slander.

Mat Ishbia didn't buy a basketball team to tank. Clearly he can't buy a championship (because no one really can in this NBA), but to think he's just going to sit back and accept sucking for one or several years is being selectively tone deaf. As far as I can tell, he will always try to put a competitive product on the court with the goal of winning a title. Why are people so bitter about that?
We’re still on the “Ishbia won’t let it happen” thing?

Cap's twitching again, someone ctrl+alt+del him.

Nobody is saying he won't fail. Everyone is saying he is not going to sit on his hands. They have been incredibly creative and proactive to try and turn the tide.

He is married to the idea of KD. Stop whining about it. I fucking hate it too and want this molding aging soft superstar gone, but it is what it is. He invested heavily in him and he's going to exhaust all resources to try and make it work. In that context, you have to applaud the effort to continue to maneuver gloriously along the extreme restrictions that are in place to make this team competitive.

I have no doubt that he will continue to be active and when the time comes and it's obvious to HIM at that point as an owner that his efforts are futile, he will be creative and actively shifting to build toward a NEW competitive roster.
I love you too, Saucy.
It's a dark day here when we're in the same corner lol
I would argue the opposite. I'm almost blinded here in the light.

"Isn't getting" isn't the same as "is expecting". May I remind you of Deandre Ayton? Or how about Jonathan Kuminga or Patrick Williams? You know too much to ignore the negotiable factors of these situations.

Just like Mikal Bridges was the big fish for the Nets, Amen Thompson would be the hypothetical big fish for the Suns.

There's no policing going on. Just observations. I definitely agree we should send our food back to the cook. I just choose to do it in a polite manner. :D I don't want him spitting in my food. I believe he will make my dinner right. In time.

I don't understand your examples. Patrick Williams is making $18/yr. And Jalen Green was expecting the max too.

DeAndre Ayton was talking about a max deal and getting paid from day one. That hasn't been Smith's prerogative.
