Here me out:

KD to Houston for Smith Jr, Sheppard, 2025 swap rights, and our 2027 pick back(and salary filler). Trade Grayson to Orlando for filler, 1 1st and swap rights back.

Send Royce and Tyus to Memphis for filler and swap rights back.

Run a Sheppard/Booker/Dunn/Smith Jr/Oso lineup the rest of the year. Beal/Bol/Richards plus whatever salary filler we got off the bench. Drop into the lottery, snag the 1st pick, draft Cooper Flagg and boom, we’ve got a Booker/Flagg/Smith Jr/Sheppard/Dunn core. We’ve got picks and youth and we still have Booker. If Booker says he’s not up for it…then get an absolute haul for him in the summer too.
If you could only guarantee that it would happen the way you have it played out... I would say that I see the way.

I’d rather cross my fingers for ping pong balls than for Kuminga to turn into a good nba player.

Ya I mean I know it’s likely not going to happen…but I think that KD trade is reasonable. The 2025 draft class is deep. We likely don’t get a top 4 pick, but we could have Sheppard/Booker/Dunn/Smith Jr plus a top 10 rookie. Or maybe it’s Eason or Whitmore..but point is we can get some good young prospects from Houston and position ourselves to skip some steps in a full rebuild if we get lucky.

This. I’m not sold on Kuminga at all. He’s a player who believes he’s better than he actually is and will be looking to get paid. No thanks.

He’s an athletic scorer who doesn’t defend or make his teammates better. Maybe he figures it out, but you’d have to pay him this summer too…pass

Trading KD to Houston would be the optimal outcome this week. That would put us right back on track to recover and retool our team. It also frees us up to make any smaller moves either now (Grayson?) or this summer. KD to Houston is better than any other KD trade because (a) they have OUR picks which we can recover, and (b) they have so much young talent that they should be willing to part with 1-2 interesting players.

I think Riley got petty and said I’m not trading Butler to where he wants, so Jimmy double and tripled down to sabotage any chance Riley has at trading him to anyone but us. They absolutely don’t want Jimmy. He will be a sun on Thursday.

As others have said, I don't want the Suns to trade KD for Butler. IMO this would be a lateral move at best and arguably a downgrade. Don't see the point.

KD for Butler would be dumb unless it also gives us a bunch of assets

See, that’s what I keep saying…it’s KD for Butler.

Part of me wants them to trade KD for Draymond and Butler just to spite the "we need tough guys" crowd. Enjoy watching a team with assholes who win fewer games.

Correct - absolute shambles without good young talent and/or decent draft collateral. Butler is a good couple of tiers below KD, even if KD has proven not to be the answer for this version of the Suns.

I think that’s what the Warriors one would be that doesn’t include anyone other than Miami…I can’t see golden state into Beal

Agreed. If a deal goes down with GS, Kuminga should be going to a third or fourth team.

I actually think Beal would do great in the GS system

I'd trade Beal and a first for Draymond and Wiggins though!

I still think if Jimmy can happen, why not. It’s either Beal for Jimmy essentially, or trade Durant for as much as you can get to “retool” around Booker as quick as you can. If you can get off Beal then you do it, otherwise he’s the highest paid 6th man in the NBA the next 2 seasons. I don’t know why Nurkic is even there. I truly want to see Booker a Sun for life. All I know is I can stop stressing after Thursday, I can’t wait.
