Yeah, what happened to him when he came here? He just lost all his chops and everybody hated him?

Bud was a very good coach earlier in his career. Something happened in Milwaukee and they mysteriously fired him after recent success. I guess it's less of a mystery now. Bud is a shell of his former self.

Edit: That brings us back to Shel's most consistent gripe with Ishbia's front office. They don't have connections and the don't know the industry. A connected front office would have had some idea of what went down with Bud and the Bucks.

It’s possible the death of his brother had a big impact on his mental health, which impacted his ability to be a head coach.

Possibly. He didn't seem to really give a shit about the Suns or his job, I get it, when I lost my mom my perspective on a lot of things changed.

I don’t want to speculate too much, but there was rumors he had a drinking problem…which could have easily stemmed from the unexpected death of a loved one.

I forgot that happened to him. Very good points. Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, TOO. Speaking of which, please send your thoughts and prayers my way as this Saturday my mom is having half her colon removed and a spot on her liver burned as she has stage 4 colon cancer.

New Suns coach Jordan Ott 'focused to move this thing forward'
The Suns introduced Ott on Tuesday roughly a week after hiring the Cleveland Cavaliers assistant to take over for Mike Budenholzer
https://www.nba.com/news/suns-coach-jor ... conference
Jordan Ott’s first NBA head coaching job comes with an expensive, underachieving roster, an increasingly hands-on owner who has promised to be more involved, and a grumpy fan base that has never experienced a championship since the franchise was established in the desert in 1968.

Taking over the Phoenix Suns won’t be easy.

Ott wouldn’t have it any other way.

“We’re all aware of what we sign up for when we’re an NBA basketball coach,” Ott said. “I’m not here to look back, what’s happened, I’m focused to move this thing forward. That’s my sole energy.”
Any good coach will build their system according to their personnel on both sides,” Ott said. “There’s a preferred style of play and you can still get it based on different personnel. But until the personnel is set, that’s when you can really build it out.”

Ott’s resume is typical for that of an up-and-coming NBA coach and he’s considered a great innovator, particularly on the offensive end. He’s held a variety of roles over more than a decade in the league, including with the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and most recently the Cavaliers, who had a 64-18 record last season for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

His teams have made the playoffs in 10 of his 12 seasons in the league.
“I’ve earned the right to be here,” Ott said. “I’ve spent 20 years of working as hard as I possibly can to be here in this spot. I’ve been around great people, great coaches, great players, to allow me to grow, put me in tough spots to see if I can be better.

“I know I’ve earned this opportunity. I’m going to work as hard as I can from here on out to prove I’m here for the right reasons.”

Wishing for the best for your mom, Bone; good luck to her on Saturday. Not on the same level as these human examples, but I just found out that one of my dogs has cancer and that it's fairly advanced and will probably get him within the next year or so, which has been tough news. Cancer sucks.

Thanks, Marty, and sorry to hear that as well. Our pets become very much a part of the family.
