Maybe I'm looking at it cross-eyed, but I feel like this hurts us a bit. I was really hoping we could trade with Orlando and give them Beal. They seemed like they really needed a shooting guard who could go get them some buckets, and I thought they might be willing to give us some assets for Beal. But Bane is better, and now they are probably set. They also gave away a bunch of their picks, which I was hoping we would try to pilfer.
You thought we could get assets for Beal??? 😭😭😭😭

Maybe we can get JJJ?
I thought I made a decent trade for that in the other thread 8-)

I know JJJ is up to get supermaxxed, I would think this deal signals that they plan pay him but who knows lol
I don’t want JJJ. He’s garbage. Always in foul trouble and can’t rebound to save his life. Even his defense has dropped off the last couple years.

His playoff performance this year was especially bad:
.379 FG%
.273 3FG%
5.0 rpg
0.5 bpg

Weird how all these non-Ayton bigs are “garbage.”

JJJ’s rebounding is not good. But if you can put some good rebounders around him, he more than makes up for it in other ways for mine.

JJJ is really a SF with elite weak side shot blocking. You definitely need to play him with a real C, but he’s a good offensive player and I think has quite a bit of potential still. If Oso can bulk up a bit, I think there’s some fun combos there.

In my odd dream world I like to see Kessler and JJJ roaming the paint.

To me a big isn’t even a big if they can’t rebound. And we don’t have any good rebounders to put around him either, unless we want to start Richards next to him.

We’re going to have a mostly all-new roster next season. We don’t know what we’ll have yet.

Okay, but we haven’t had any good rebounders to put next to our center since we traded Shawn Marion 17 years ago so I’m not holding my breath.

Wait…what? You’re allowed to make trades (or agree to trades) while still in the playoffs?

As long as no players are involved…and I guess that counts rights to players too. As long as they aren’t actually on your roster.

Still, it doesn’t seem to be the right message to send to your team heading into an elimination game, as if your offseason has already started.

I get what you are saying, but I think the players would understand…still, I’m sure they could’ve waited a few days…although NOP might be working on something else and pushed the deal along

I highly doubt the Pacers players are even marginally concerned with their front office trading a draft pick and someone who's not even on the roster.

Kind of interesting so many teams selling. Selling high?

Lakers acquire a mega star for pennies 3 months before the team gets sold for a record $10 billion, what a coincidence.

Who are you taking: Amare in his prime or Ayton from 2021-2022 season?
