Suns News: Week 17 (2/9 - 2/15)
Re: Suns News: Week 17 (2/9 - 2/15)
It feels like Ishbia is doing a mini media tour to crow about what a good season we are having. And he does deserve some credit for that. But I do worry that our success this year is causing Ishbia to skip having to really learn the lesson from the multitude of catastrophic failures he and his FO made in our team construction and moves over the past few years. We're a plucky playoff team this season, and we're out of the tax apron. But we still don't have very many draft picks for many years to come, and I don't really see a clear path from this current fun team to a real championship contender. If Ishbia thinks he has nailed it and that the team is on the pathway to great success, I hope he curbs his expectations and realizes that there's a lot of difficult work still ahead. Genuine congrats for the savvy work on decisions like the Ott hire, the KD trade, the Mark Williams acquisition, the various FA signings like Goodwin, and so on. But maybe chill out bragging how great we are and get back to work.

I just finished reading the article and came here to post it as well. The article is getting destroyed in the comments section for being a puff piece. I do agree that Ishbia doesn't take enough any? responsibility for the KD and Beal trades. Basically saying he was just doing what "everybody else was telling him to do". And yeah, how do we deal with the lack of draft capital over the next 4 years that was destroyed in a single off-season? We are now OKC a couple years ago but without the massive draft capital.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:08 pmIt feels like Ishbia is doing a mini media tour to crow about what a good season we are having. Just think what could have been if we operated like we are now before the KD and Beal trades. We had a pretty good team at the time. If we had tinkered with it the same way we did this offseason, we could have been in great position with very good draft capital.
It's great that we're a competitive team now but what do we look like down the line as we have to pay Williams, Gillespie, etc without having new draft talent come in. Do we trade some of our depth for picks? It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few years. I'm just glad I'll be able to hang out with you all while we witness it and celebrate and cry together.

I think Amare has a decent HOF case. 5 time All-NBA(4 2nd team, 1 first team). That means he spent half a decade as a top 10 player in the league. The prime was certainly HOF worthy…it’s just whether he played long enough. Him vs Marion is an interesting comparison as they essentially have opposite resumes. Did Marion get in?

Amare in his heyday was one of the most explosive power forwards to ever play the game. Whether he did it long enough is the question.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:53 pmI think Amare has a decent HOF case. 5 time All-NBA(4 2nd team, 1 first team). Another former Sun, Jamal Crawford is among the nominees, and I have to wonder what makes him HoF worthy? Was he really that much better than, say, Eddie Johnson?
