Also…. He’d get here and turn into Danny manny or tom gugliota and never be healthy or reliable.

I love Book, but, what is the ceiling of this team? Can we build a contender in a few years based on this roster plus development of our young guys and a few surgical FA signings?
The ideal change IMO would be to trade Green. But I think we may not find a good deal for him. He hasn't shown value as a net-positive asset, and the league is getting smarter about not taking on guys like this. I doubt we could get much back for him unless we threw in picks, which I absolutely do not want to do.
I think I would rather just be content to be a 6-8 seed for the next several years and not go "all-in" again by trading our future 1sts. So you work the phones trying to trade Green and maybe Royce. And you try to make smart FA signings that help plug holes, hoping for a breakthrough. I don't think we are going to blow it up by trading Booker, so that's the least bad outcome I think.

Who seems to like the draft and be pretty good at it.

I hate when that dude speaks, he's obnoxious.

He’s not really wrong though…Marion was quite unique
But definitely felt under appreciated and has spent a lot of his career and post-career letting everyone know

I think the Marion interview is being very overblown. Just watched it. Yeah, he's tooting his own horn (and he even admits as much). He didn't say anything negative about Fleming. It would be ridiculous for him to claim Fleming is similar to or compares to prime Matrix since Marion did what he did for a long time, consistently, and Fleming is a rookie finally starting to see consistent minutes. He's also gotten a lot better at not saying "know what I'm sayin" every sentence.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Yeah, he's definitely matured and slowed down. Yeah, it's a little overblown but he was mainly interested in talking about himself rather than the current iteration of the Suns. He's got a big ego like many athletes.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2026 12:18 pmI think the Marion interview is being very overblown. Just watched it. Shawn always had a bit of a complex over his status as a player, feeling underappreciated and not getting his due.

I don't think the interview is a big deal or anything. But it was pretty surprising and funny to hear Matrix toot his own horn so much even when specifically asked to comment on other players. Makes him look insecure and selfish. These guys get a lot of media training nowadays, so I'm surprised he did that. Matrix was one of my very favorite Suns but it's clear from this interview that he is still bitter and has low self esteem. I feel bad for him because he really was a great player; he doesn't need to say these clearly insecure things to try to pump up his own legacy or image.
