Game Day: Mavericks (25-54) @ Suns (43-36), Wed 4/8/26

I don’t think we can afford to take any games off. Keep the foot on the pedal and do whatever we can to be firing on as many cylinders as possible when the play-in starts.

Unfortunately Mark Williams is only a decent rebounder and even worse rim protector.
But ManMan closing![]()
Williams is by far the top rebounder when you look at his rebounding rate. His shot blocking is second to Maluach.

Williams and ManMan is the way, Oso is ruined by his lack of strength and his toddler wingspan.

Playing Dunn/Fleming/Maluach was the fix. 2 games to tune up rotation with this combination in there.
Seriously. Play 12 deep. Balls to the wall for 48 minutes. Platoon Hubie Brown style. Wear the opponent down.

Maluach a team leading +11 (along with Book), 14 boards, and 3 blocks. Hmm.

Maluach was good, and it was cool to see him get the start. I thought Dunn rebounded well and had energy. It wasn't a great game for Fleming, although he didn't have a lot of minutes. But a 5-point home win against that Dallas team doesn't show anything at all about where the Suns are right now, regardless of who plays. It was a garbage win, and the main positive is that it wasn't a loss. They play that way in a playin game, no matter who it is (probably Portland first), and they're going to get killed.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 10:38 pmPlaying Dunn/Fleming/Maluach was the fix. 2 games to tune up rotation with this combination in there.

Oso's plusses - passing, his handle and team defense don't counteract his shortcomings - scoring, rebounding, rim protection and FT shooting.

I thought Oso looked like he lost some weight, which can happen over the course of the season. He'll always have trouble with bigger centers but he might be fading a bit down the stretch here. Also think it needs to be reinforced that he needs to be aggressive driving and attacking the rim like he was a few months ago.

Not to harp or overreact but this message was fine the first couple months of the year. Right now at this point in the season we should be fine tuning things and knowing exactly how we want to play and how we want to win. Maybe we're just not there yet as a team/roster. Just hope Ott hasn't run out of ideas or messages for the team.

Long term, Oso will be a PF. He just needs to learn how to shoot at a minimal level.ShelC wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 5:28 amI thought Oso looked like he lost some weight, which can happen over the course of the season. Ehh, they won’t post anything that has actual substance. I wouldn’t be worried about this.

I think the chances of Oso shooting is very low. He’s so bad. I play basketball twice a month and the suns would be better off throwing me out there for his ft attempts.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 10:00 amLong term, Oso will be a PF. Yea I don't see that form getting fixed and him becoming any kind of shooter. He should continue to develop the dribble drive game and backdown into the hook or flip shot. That's the only viable way I see him becoming any kind of offensive contributor aside from dump-offs for dunks.

That has nothing to do with form. He was shooting 3s as a 17 yr old in Europe.
