Just came here to post about this. He's been done for a while now, but now it is official. There has never been a player quite like him, and I miss the Nash years terribly. We were so spoiled to have a PG who could pass like him while also being one of the best shooters in the league. We had 3 PGs this year and even if you put them all together you don't add up to one Steve Nash.

Just an absolute lengend. He played basketball the right way and I still use some of his drills and tendencies as a player to coach my team in practice.

During his second stay here Nash was probably the best shooter in the league, one of the best passers, and probably the best ball handler. He was the best free throw shoot and if you switched a big man out on him he would just kill you by getting them off balance and going around them.
His only shortcoming was defensively, but he did give an effort.
I liked him as a player, although he was never my favorite Sun. He probably didn't deserve the 2005 MVP, but he was the best player on the team that finished with the best record which was terrible the year before, so he won it over Shaq and Duncan. The next year he played even better, so he won the award again although LeBron had a better year on a worse team.
If someone wants to call Nash the greatest Suns player ever I would complain to much, he's certainly in the top group with Westphal, K.J. and Barkley.
My only real complaint would be that he decided to go to the Lakers, but hell, that worked out well for the Suns so I'll give him a free pass on that.

Watching that highlight video is so depressing. You see what a great ball handler can do to a defense. And what a great passer can do to a defense. And what a great shooter can do... We don't have a single one of those things...

Well said. I always regret not getting to see Westy play. I was just the right age to be in the KJ camp, and he is still my favorite Sun, no question. But Steve could very well be the best. If I had one game to play, I would probably go with KJ. Nash is my favorite player ever but even I would have to go Barkley. He was just unstoppable '92-'94. If only Jordan didn't exist. But damn Nash was so FUN to watch. It was just such a pleasure & I'm sad my sons just weren't old enough to be interested in basketball when he was playing. There's not a whole lot one can say about him that hasn't already been said. He changed the game, got the most of out his body with exceptional work ethic and determination. And moreso than his array of skills, he was one of the best leaders and teammates to play the game. I think he absolutely deserved both MVPs.
Hard to gauge if he's the greatest Suns player ever, but you won't get an argument from me if that's how he's regarded.

Basically, it was a game of a lot of importance (playoffs or fighting for playoffs), Nash had been playing hurt and aggravated his back and had to leave the game.
