This is from a couple years ago but is very appropriate for today. EJ has a unique perspective as he is a prominent supporter of Helping Hands for Single Moms. We are lucky to have EJ as such a big part of our franchise.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

LOL, Miles Bridges went to Michigan State? Wow. You can't make this stuff up.

Here's an article about rumors of the Suns acquiring Bridges from a few years ago. The author, Gerald Bourquet, says he stands by it today.
The post also included a medical report that read: “adult victim of physical abuse by male partner; Assault by strangulation, Brain concussion; Closed fracture of nasal bone; Contusion of rib; Multiple bruises; Strain of neck muscle.”

Without the pick, character issues aside, not a bad trade. With the pick...
Exactly. Just leave the picks out and it is an ok move for both teams. CHA was done with Bridges regardless, and we for sure needed to do something about the guard logjam.
Almost as if Ishbia wants to make sure the Suns never have a lottery pick, committing to building with one. Brilliance or lunacy I don't know. But the Suns pretty much will never tank.
The lottery changes help us in this regard but yeah, even if you don't believe in tanking, handing out unprotected picks that far out is just bad business.
Horrible. Maybe for a star. But for Miles Bridges???

This Ponzi scheme will require payment at some point.

Little sense to this spin. Any prospective trading partner is going to placer much higher value on the unprotected 2033 pick than on any combination of these 27-28-29 swaps.

And even if you believe any team is into this quantity over quality, I am sure you can find someone who will do another multiple lowly 1stR package for the 2033 unprotected, just like UTA did.

And of course, if the pick is the deal breaker for CHA, just walk away...

Shamet has championship pedigree now and can play proven rotation minutes in the playoffs.

AI evaluation of the impact of trade:

The trade landing Miles Bridges on the Phoenix Suns significantly reshapes their roster by providing a high-volume scoring threat, frontcourt size, and major financial relief, though at the expense of veteran depth. The Phoenix Suns acquired Bridges, a 2029 first-round draft pick, and a 2027 second-round pick from the Charlotte Hornets. In exchange, Phoenix traded away guard Grayson Allen, forward Royce O'Neale, and a 2033 unprotected first-round draft pick. The roster, financial, and strategic impacts on the Suns include:

Frontcourt Athleticism and Scoring

Shot Creation: Bridges gives the Suns a versatile wing who can "put the ball on the floor" and create his own shot, moving away from purely relying on spot-up shooters.

Statistical Premium: He averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 77 games during the 2025–26 season.

Positional Size: Standing at 6-foot-7, Bridges fills a power forward slot the franchise has actively tried to solidify for multiple seasons, adding size, transition scoring, and defensive switching.

Projected Starting Lineup: He is expected to start at power forward alongside Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and Mark Williams.

Roster Depth Demolition

Losing Elite Spacing: The Suns parted with Grayson Allen, who previously led the NBA in three-point percentage (46.1%) and averaged 16.5 points during an injury-hampered 2025–26 season.

Losing Defensive Versatility: Royce O'Neale leaves a massive void in the secondary rotation after hitting a franchise-third-best 212 three-pointers last season while defending positions one through four.

Massive Financial Savings

Luxury Tax Relief: By consolidating the multi-year contracts of Allen and O’Neale into Bridges’ expiring contract, the Suns save roughly $20 million in luxury taxes.

Roster Flexibility: The move opens up a crucial roster spot for the front office to utilize ahead of NBA free agency.

The Long-Term Draft Gamble

Draft Capital Swapping: Phoenix successfully clawed back closer draft equity by securing a 2029 first-round pick. However, giving up an unprotected 2033 first-round pick means they surrendered a long-term asset that could become highly valuable as their current core ages.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

It was problem last year, now it’s even worst. Hopefully Colin’s playmaking goes another level.

Indeed. We were sending out more than enough in Allen (the better player imo) and O'Neale. Can't convince me that we had to give up that pick for a lowly swap in 29, a second rounder and some cap flexibility. Really, the more you think about it, the worse it gets.
