Good points. I also agree that Herro is not a pg…I just see him as the fully formed version of what we would hope Green could be. I’ll concede that I’m not considering chemistry much. I do think Green is pretty solid from that standpoint. I’m also very willing to play it out for a bit and see what happens. Maybe Green will surprise us.pickle wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2026 11:15 pmI think over the years looking at people’s general reactions to players / trades I’ve concluded that I’m higher on chemistry than most. I find Herro to be an average player who can score, and from that perspective he may be a bit better than Green. But I don’t see him as a point guard and I think his best role is also 6th man, not unlike Green. I know that BBIQ is a thing but if Green puts his mind to it he has a higher defensive ceiling than Herro, tho I am not holding my breath. But in terms of chemistry, Green is A+ and Herro is very low in my opinion. He’s always struck me as a bit of a dick and this latest punching incident with Bam doesn’t win him any points (I realize he’s on the receiving end of the punch and I’m maybe victim blaming a bit).

I used to like the idea of Scoot, despite the poor shooting. But this past season his assist numbers dropped and he averaged only 3.7 apg. I would prefer to target more of a distributor.
Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
Yea I was never really a Scoot guy but I think there could be more there. At the very least, we'd have a legit ballhandler and he seems to be getting better defensively. There aren't a ton of great, realistic options who check all the boxes. Then it becomes a question of whether we trade just to get anyone here who can play point or patiently wait for the right opportunity that may not come.

I agree with the assessment of Green’s abilities on the court and the relative pessimism that he will tap that potential to become more, but I would push back on him being 20 mil too expensive. We did get lucky with CG taking a friendly contract but any contender will have a sixth man making far more than 15 mil per. Green might be on the higher end of contract figures but he’s by no means an albatross contract, especially since he only has two more years (one of which is a PO).Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2026 3:31 amObviously, you never know what teams actually think and we've seen enough stupid trades to know that it only takes one sucker to trade for a guy, but in terms of value, if you ask me, Green makes around 20M more than he should based on his ideal role for any team as a 6th man (let alone PHX with Booker, Brooks, etc.).
You can make the point that due to age and athleticism, he has untapped potential; but I don't think teams will buy it because the sample size is large enough at this point (and last season he even lost his status as an iron man). So my guess is that to the vast majority of teams, he is little more than a non-expiring bad contract and, as such, the only thing you are getting back in a trade is a similar bad contract, unless you are willing to give up actual assets.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
Our old friend Markieff Morris tweeted out that Harden goes to the Suns, Jalen Green goes to Cleveland, and then LeBron signs with the Cavs. While it would give the team the playmaker that is needed, I would not want to give up a young player with upside to get someone who is one step closer to the retirement home.
Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
Guys, relax about the PG position. We'll draft a good one next summer and also trade for LaMelo.
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.
Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
Maybe Collin will just take another leap and save us…then Green can move to his more suited role as bench scorer.

He’s saying the right things about accepting blame and trying to change which is a good first step. It is only the first step of very many to rehabilitate his image and by far the easiest.
Hopefully he can indeed become a changed and better man, not so much for the Suns but for those near to him in his personal life. (clearly it would benefit the Suns if this happened too)

Only saw Rankin’s description for why we were comfortable giving away an unprotected frp and it’s as dumb as you expect. Especially when he spent the first half of the press conference describing why this trade was such a hard decision in the first place.

What was the reason?
Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
Did anyone ask Miles why he continues to have disputes/allegations/etc with his ex wife?

To go back to the PG acquisition topic a bit, I would be interested in helping the Bucks declutter their back court a bit. The player I am most interested in is Ryan Rollins, but more likely they’ll try to move KPJ? Don’t think it’s possible to get any of these guys with Green tho as the salaries are way unbalanced. And I don’t have much interest in KPJ due to the off court issues. Rollins is no angel himself but I think his troubles are much more benign.

I don't know man. If Green was a FA I would not offer more than the MLE, and even that would give me some pause considering the money thrown around this summer for a number of guards. 22M for Powell, 9.6M for Sexton, 24M for Coby White, 22M for Ayo, 15M for Grimes, 6M for Anfernee Simons, etc. Can't convince me that in this landscape Green is worth more than half of his current 35M per.pickle wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2026 8:55 amI agree with the assessment of Green’s abilities on the court and the relative pessimism that he will tap that potential to become more, but I would push back on him being 20 mil too expensive. Granted, he is not Bradley Beal (or a Lillard/Beal stretched salary), but why are we paying a marginal excess compared to the mean of the guys above? For what production? Scratch Powell if you want to point out to the monster contract AR15 got from LAL. Guards who can score 20ppg on mediocre/bad efficiency if you give then the green light while doing little else, simply are not a rare commodity at all in the NBA. Again, are we paying for implied potential? Hard to see it after 5 years in the league. And then you have the issue of the redundancy with Booker and others.

Yep..though I can see the perspective from a current GM. What does he care about a pick in 2033…he’s trying to build a team now and has been given the direction that we aren’t ever going to rebuild. Earlier picks are better for that…even if they aren’t as valuable.
I think he’s just wrong about the lottery rules changing making the pick not as valuable..if anything it made the pick more valuable as it doesn’t require the suns to be bad to be a good pick. He’s also just very dismissive of the possibility that something weird happens and we are bad that year.

Something very big was missing at Miles Bridges' introduction | Opinion
The man who preaches 'alignment, accountability and culture' was noticeably absent and it was wrong.

Re: Suns News: 2026 Offseason Edition
From Gregory's standpoint he was hired as GM of a team pretty much stripped of most of its future assets so he's had to make some high-risk deals -
- waiving and stretching Bradley Beal
- trading a first round pick for Williams
- trading Durant for Brooks, Green and draftees Maluach and Fleming
- trading O'Neale and Allen for Bridges
The trades for Durant and Beal and the disappointment of the 2024-25 team necessitated an aggressive (and risky) approach if they were going to avoid being cellar dwellers for the next 5 years and get out of luxury tax hell.
