The fact that that video exists is evidence that something is wrong with the coaching and guidance Oso is receiving.

If he's going to start shooting from distance, he has to fix his form. Any time spent practicing shooting like THAT is time wasted, because I never want him taking that shot in a real NBA game, not even if he were to practice it a bit more and get to a semi-respectable percentage. There's no physical way he could become consistent and reliable shooting 3s that way. So spending any of his time on that is a waste of the precious finite time he has this offseason to develop and improve his game.

There are concrete things he can and should be working on, one of which can be shooting form, specifically from close to mid range and FTs. And if he shows the ability to fix that, maybe he could take a few steps back and start working on a 3-point shot. But that would likely come after many months of practice doing it the right way. Not this.

I wish somebody on the coaching staff would intervene and tell him not to bother practicing shooting 3s with that form. Might be hard to hear it, but if he thinks he's going to bust out that shot next season or something, he needs a talking to.

I’m no shooting coach expert…but I wonder if it’s part of the process of rebuilding a shot. Maybe his form was broken enough that it has to be rebuilt in multiple steps…and as Carno pointed out, that video is 2 years old. Who knows what the form looks like now.

It is funny though…I’m not exactly in my prime basketball days anymore, and even I could go out there and easily look better than Oso in that video. Doesn’t give a lot of confidence that he’ll ever be able to shoot.
