So many of these shows never had a chance, and are cancelled just a few episodes in... Friends with Better Lives, Bad Teacher.... I had Believe ready to start watching... was in love with Revolution, Almost Human... Dracula was just heating up... The Assets was just a MINISERIES that was cancelled after ONE episode.... things are getting really ridiculous out there. Intelligence was a nice Macguyver/Bionic Man type throwback, really enjoyed it. The Crazy Ones was awesome, quirky but hilarious. It was great seeing a comedic guy of the lead guy on Surviving Jack. WTF.

Don't forget Ravenswood, a supernatural / mystery show, which i didn't know was a spinoff until I looked into the reason of its cancellation - its parent show's whiny fans. Bloodlines, the CW Supernatural spinoff that was just axed after only a backdoor pilot. Presumbably countless other CW, Syfy, and other lesser network shows as well.

I feel like I did pretty well. I didn't start watching any of them except Community (start to finish) and I'm pretty sure it doesn't count since it already went a season more than it was supposed to. And you all know my history with Almost Human which I never had a chance to check out. I might download the pilot though and if I like it enough, watch the rest of the season.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

If you just let the shows sit on your DVR you can't really complain about cancellation :( It's a completely outdated model but studios still base cancellation on live numbers and live +7 (which is 7 days post air via DVR). Few studios even bother to factor in on-line viewing (only from their official site of course) and DVD sales (a lot of these shows are being canceled before they even air half a season).

Something is going to happen because clearly the current model of determining what is successful and what isn't is not working. I think you'll see a lot more experimentation with things, like XBoX making a show out of Warren Ellis' novel Gun Machine or Sony Entertainment making a show out of the Bendis comic Powers and airing it on the Playstation exclusively. I think in the future we'll be getting our shows anywhere & everywhere. For now though, we still live by this outdated model the networks use. And unfortunately when & where your Tv shows air is still important to them. The concept of lead-ins is totally outdated imho, yet enough people watch something like The Voice or American Idol and just leave their Tv on that station afterwards that it's enough to give whatever show the network puts after those shows life. So scheduling becomes super important and why shows so often just flat out die when put on the air Friday night (i.e. Firefly, Fringe, etc. the so called "Friday night death slot.")

The way they do ratings, it doesn't matter what or how I watch it; they wouldn't be tracking me. Its so antiquated. And yeah, theres a lot of shows going straight to Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, all those type of things, but nothing thats totally drawn me in yet... although there was a Chris Carter pilot for one of them that looked pretty good. The After, i think. Some times, the probably cancellatoins are the reasons I *don't* start watching a show; My voice doesn't count, and some times its better to not get invested just to get your heart broken. Most of the shows, though, I DID watch, or just got a few behind on... either way, its disappointing. Revolution, Intelligence, Almost Human, Dracula, Crazy Ones, Dads, Friends with Better Lives and Surviving Jack were all shows that I did watch in their entirety, and in some cases, still have seasons to finish because they are still airing.... ;p And there is NO way that Revolution is going to be able to end on anything but a cliffhanger... there is way too much going on, and way too little time to wrap up. Its a completely serialized show.

That's the plague of the modern show watcher. :(

P.s. I've seen The After. You'll hate it. Cliché ridden tripe.

Yeah, but don't worry. Wayward Pines is a sci-fi show on FOX. They'll kill it by bad scheduling. It's a crazy book though if you like Twilight Zone-ish stuff.

Yeah of course.

The end of Person of Interest last night tho? Wow! That show is off the hook, doesn't mind killing off key players, doesn't mind upending the status quo. The reveal before the end was just fantastic.

I don't watch Person of Interest or Supernatural until Friday night after work, so thanks for not giving much away. FUCK I hope neither Reese or Finch dies. And yeah, the status quo is ever changing, and it grows organically, it never feels forced...

Silicon Valley is absolutely great! True Detective is still better though. ;) When Gotham was announced, I was pretty excited for it but as more stuff about it came out, the more skeptical I have become but hopefully my worries turn out to be unjustified.
