NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread

Post by Superbone »

Thunder @ Warriors starts tonight and Raptors @ Cavs starts tomorrow night. Who do you like and in how many?

Interesting story about Bismack Biyombo. He was looking like a bust for so long, and now all of a sudden he is a contibuting player on a decent team.

I don't see how the Raptors win even 1 game against Cleveland the way the Cavs are playing right now.

As for Warriors/Thunder, this one is tough. I think GSW will roll, but I'm assuming that everybody is back healthy. Will Steph's MCL sprain flare up / reinjure itself? Isn't Bogut dealing with nagging injuries? These are concerns. If Curry can't go, throw every prediction out the window. If everybody is at nearly 100%, I think the Warriors will make short work of the Thunder in 5 games.

Final prediction, Warriors in 5, Cavs in 4. Finals rematch from last year. Go big or go home.

Bledsoe, Knight and Watson all need to watch Steph Curry's off the ball movement on offense. It's beautiful and unselfish. He's their PG and MVP and he'll literally spend 20 seconds of the shot clock sprinting into/around/under screens while his teammates pass the ball around, often with no payoff at all. Too often when one of our "PGs" has the ball, the other is standing on the wing waiting for the drive and kick. Or they make a simple, slow back cut and come back up top, satisfied that they did their part.

Yep, big upset start by the Thunder. The Warriors have their work cut out for them. Reminded me of the old Suns' series against the Spurs where we would be ahead all game and then lose at the end.

I wouldn't read too much into this game. I think OKC was already clicking on all cylinders from the Spurs series and GSW aren't there yet. Fun games ahoy!

OKC didn't play that well. Still won, in GSW home arena no less. I think they are being slept on, they didn't smoke the Spurs who were widely regarded as the 2nd best team in the NBA by accident.

The scary thing was that KD didn't even play that well. He had plenty of good looks that he just missed. OKC could easily have scored 8-10 more points that way.

The Warriors weren't their usual clutch selves down the stretch in this one.

As much as they often do nail crazy 3s from 10 feet behind the line, I still hate when Steph or Klay pull up for one of those. Especially when they do it a few seconds into the possession without passing or getting a screen or anything. There were several plays where GS was within 4-5 points and they'd just jack up a prayer 3 from 35 feet. Bad. Westbrook was also superhuman.

Westbrook might be the hardest playing player in the league.

Westbook plays not just incredibly fast and with a level of hard/angry aggressiveness that looks like it would be quite intimidating.

What's an example of a mundane everyday activity that Russell Westbrook probably does with ridiculous intensity?

I was just imagining him brushing his teeth and just going back and forth at 5000 rpm, grinding the enamel off his teeth, with a mean-mug scowl on his face the whole time.
