Poll: Who should the Suns take at #4?

If the Suns pick Dunn tomorrow, it's going to be for someone else. Of course, unless they overplay their hand like they did when they pick Ennis.

Why do you feel that trade would accomplish what I said not to do?O_Gardino wrote:Um, didn't you say:INFORMER wrote:I would love to package Brandon Knight/#4 pick for Victor Oladipo/Ersan Ilyasova/2nd rounder.
If that's not possible, I'd probably keep the pick and draft Hield, Sabonis, or Skal.

Neither of those guys is going to blossom into a franchise player, but they are both young enough to need and expect playing time. They would be just good enough to keep us in the late lottery and away from most of the future HOF picks.

So we're not going to make any moves unless it is for a franchise player?O_Gardino wrote:Neither of those guys is going to blossom into a franchise player
Ersan Ilyasova would be a throw. His contract is non-guaranteed and I would just waive him. I feel Oladipo can be a very important player on a championship team.

Other than what I just stated?

LOL at Cap and Inf posting at the same time.
I understand what you are getting at, Inf, but I just feel that there are a lot of god supporting pieces out there. You can pick them up once you have your stars. But getting all those good role players is a good way to win 45 or 50 games and never draft that star.

Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #4?
Well here's where we differ: I don't just see role players and franchise players. I feel there are multiple levels of players in between. And I don't think there are many "pieces" out there like Victor Oladipo.
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #4?
We're building around Booker, right? He is the first piece of our championship puzzle to be in place.
Ideally I'd like the second piece to play a different position from Booker, but have a similar age and contract status. Oladipo plays the same position as Booker and is one year from RFA status.

Let's go get the #7 or #8 pick and use it to grab Sabonis!ShelC wrote:Ford put out a tweet basically saying the teams 3-8 are shopping their picks.

If all those teams are shopping their pick then no one is because the value is gone.

How about we just go ahead and take Brice Johnson at 4?

I get all of that. Very valid concerns.Cap wrote:We're building around Booker, right? He is the first piece of our championship puzzle to be in place.

I just think that with Oladipo and Hield, they're good enough to compel me to give it a try. With Oladipo, I think there is less reason for concern. He can defend 1s. Draft Valentine and make him the primary ball handler and you have a three guard lineup of Oladipo-Booker-Valentine.

Draft Valentine? You just said in another thread he had Atrocious Defense and Brandon Roy Knees.INFORMER wrote:I get all of that. Very valid concerns.Cap wrote:We're building around Booker, right? He is the first piece of our championship puzzle to be in place.

If it's a choice between those two, I'd rather use the #4 on Hield than trade it for Oladipo.INFORMER wrote:I just think that with Oladipo and Hield, they're good enough to compel me to give it a try.

Amen.Indy wrote:I am a little confused as to why you think it is more important to move PJ instead of Knight. PJ is an expiring vet. Knight is our biggest cap hit and only stands in the way of Booker. I would rather have two PJ Tuckers on this team than deal with one more month of Knight.

I'm okay not taking Bledsoe's replacement in this draft. Lots of point guards should be available next year. I'd like to think we could grab one then or the following season, when we own both our own and Miami's selection.Ring_Wanted wrote:Yep.
