I would love it for it to roll over to '19 and then get the #1 pick, which the Suns could draft the hometown kid Marvin Bagley III.

What?! What about the goodbye tour and the final 60 point game and the ruining of an entire NBA season for your team?
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Man, you're on top of it. You mean we have our own LeBron?

He kind of is. He's the #1 player in hs basketball right now, although still only an incoming Junior. 6'11", jumps out of the gym, can handle the ball, shoot and pass from the perimeter, but also bang down low, rebounds and blocks shots. He can go finesse or power, and is the grandson of Jumping Joe Caldwell.

Ah, 'twasn't the result that upset anyone; 'twas the method.

That seems about right.

What are the rules on the protection? IIRC it isn't in favor of us very much. Anyone have the details?
Those are the rules on protection. If it doesn't convey in 2018, it's unprotected in 2019. That's *extremely* favorable.

To an elite few of us, it was a good deal prospectively as well. :P

Sure, that is exactly what I said. Making poor choices to get you in a bad position, and then making the most out of it, is really just a complaint about the process...

I wanted us to trade Dragic after his All-NBA season. 'Twas a lonely island I was on, then.

I've been under the impression that McD has been forcing his own hand on a number of players in order to turn them into draft picks. We had to trade Dragic. We had to trade IT. We had to trade Markieff. Giving the impression to the rest of the league that we wanted to keep them because they were awesome ( ) but that we had no choice. Maybe I've assumed too much, but given the consistency of the results with the vision I had for the direction of the team, I think it's at least a defensible belief.

Sorry for 'twasing so much.

We didn't have to trade IT. Nobody was saying that. It was actually just the opposite after Dragic said he didn't want to be here anymore since we supposedly lied to him (have no idea who is really lying here).

I know you have consistently said that Ryan was intentionally putting himself in these position where the entire league knows we have to trade one of our guys, and it is his method, but I just can't buy it.

Unfortunately, it seemed that Ryan painted himself in a corner. From my impression, he promised Dragic that he would trade Thomas to clear the logjam that was created, and even though Dragic himself decided he wanted out and wasn't changing his mind anymore, Ryan felt obligated and compelled to fulfill his promise. I could be entirely wrong on this, but that's the impression I received. Then, he was enamored with Knight and paid too much for him(still don't see what he sees in the guy, definitely haven't been persuaded on value of Knight).

Thomas fetched us the #28 pick, which we included in the Chriss trade. If we hadn't had #28, we'd likely have had to include #34 instead. So Thomas ultimately got us Ulis. Seems fitting.

I look forward to seeing those two go up against each other.

^ LOL.

That retirement announcement was so Tim Duncan. No farewell tour season, no big press conference, just "I'm retired." I get it. Why play 1-2 more years when the Warriors have the league locked up for a long time? What's the point? He also wasn't very effective this past season in the playoffs; he couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. Can't blame him.
