That retirement announcement was so Tim Duncan. No farewell tour season, no big press conference, just "I'm retired." I get it. Why play 1-2 more years when the Warriors have the league locked up for a long time? What's the point? He also wasn't very effective this past season in the playoffs; he couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. Can't blame him.
Same could be said for Curry and Thompson. And Green in the finals. I would bet he could play a couple more years and still be better than half the PFs playing.

Yeah, saw that. Oh well... I'll let Ulis have his minutes.

Too bad. I had hoped that him still hanging around was an indication that we had a trade in the works. Goodwin for a pick, or a two for one involving a PG.

Yup. Ronnie is the kind of "dependable" veteran that coaches have a hard time benching in favor of talent we need to develop. Happy for him. Not sad to see him go.

I still don't understand the Barbosa signing. Unless Price was causing some issues off the court. Maybe he didn't want to sit on the bench? He just seemed to be hanging out with the guys a lot and if he was content it seems like an odd move to mess with possible chemistry just for a upgrade on the bench.

Doesn't really matter either way but it just seemed odd.

I do agree that I would probably rather keep Price than sign Barbosa. But once they signed Barbs, it would have been wrong to also retain Price.

Suns may have plans for Ulis taking over that backup/steady hand off the bench. He could see time as the true PG, maybe next to Barbosa, or be a practice body.

He's essentially a recently graduated HS Senior. It will take a little time, just worried about a couple of those passes and not understanding to play above the rim when you are right by the rim. I guess it will come...hopefully.

A little memory lane...http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/07/12/jas ... yptr=yahoo
“I thought I was going to be a Spur,” Kidd, now the Milwaukee Bucks coach, said while watching his team during the Las Vegas Summer League on Monday. “I committed when I was down there on my visit [to San Antonio].

There's not a HS Senior in America that has gone against the competition and received the coaching that Bender has.

Chronologically and maturity wise, he's still just a pup.

I don't buy the "HS senior" comparison, but I think I heard he'll be the youngest player in the NBA this year. That does matter, and I will be patient.

Not only is he super young, he has been in a whirlwind of travel in a foreign country for the last couple of months. He looks a little overwhelmed, and I'm willing to be patient. I expect him to look better by preseason.

He settled down with his shot last night and hit 3s at a pretty good rate.

Maybe the data is missing (and/or maybe I am more naïve than I think!), but I see he only played 75 minutes in the Euroleague. Are you saying that he went up against better competition in the junior Croatian league than those American HS super teams? Or just those 75 minutes?

Coaching seems about right, though I am not sure how much time they spent on their youngster that was under contract for 7 more years and was hardly playing.
