If you prefer it this way, the 8 minutes Len was on the court, he was killing us. The whole game didn't depend on him, or on those 8 mins, but I think you get my point.EDC wrote:Really? Lens 8 minutes killed us? I swear the expectations on Len from a lot of fans is insane. If you held Chandler to the defensive standards you hold Len to you could fill up a game thread with all the complaining you would have to do. Chandler doesn't even try. Len tries and sometimes ends up looking goofy but at least he plays defense.
People really do want to go back to the days of getting destroyed on the boards. Do people pine for the days of Plumlee or Teletovic? So many people wouldn't even give Len the money those guys make. It is absurd.
And I do hold Chandler to the same standards. I've said a number of times that he doesn't defend, and especifically have pointed out the way he doesn't even put his arms up to challenge drives, which makes me sich (and is something that Len seems to be learning from him).
Also, what I say about Len doesn't mean I want Plumlee or especially Teletovic back. That's a false dichotomy. I obviously want to stay away of those two (or any other overpaid big) while also not wanting to pay Len 17M per (so he doesn't become my overpaid big).
It's not really about expectations either. At this point I've accepted that he probably won't be more than an average big man and honestly I don't even care about his draft position. The issue is that I don't see this team in a position where it needs to spend a ton to keep said player. We are not winning, nor cap strangled, or devoid of picks to look for a replacement, so I can afford patience and bidding my time to make a call on big contracts. I am not opposed to keep Len, but again, I don't want a Mahinmi in my hands.
