These are acquisitions teams that are close to a championship make. Not one from a bottom 3 team in the west. No Idea what sacramento is doing, but I expect them to be the center of attention at the deadline again.

I like what they're doing. They could make a nice jump next year.
Re: Around the League: The Offseason
Carter is fascinating. He played 9 so years as a premier player (depending how you count them), with his last all-star appearance at age 30 in 2007. This will be his 11th year since.carey wrote:https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/883119989053632513 Old man Vince still rollin. I don't really know why Sacramento is snapping up all these redundant veterans. They really want to win 35 games, huh?
Richard Jefferson re-upped with Cleveland too.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
I like that Gay acquisition for San Antonio. They need more scoring, and they can probably find a way to get the most out of him. Seems like a reasonable contract, too.
That Olynyk signing shows how little allure the city of Miami, and ringleader Pat Riley, really have. That's the best free agent they can get? A mediocre bench tweener PF/C at too high a salary? Blech. They'll probably be okay next year given their strong coaching, good PG, good center, and the generally strong 30-11 performance they ended last season with. But they're probably a low playoff seed (6-8) at best. Not very excited about them.
Those moves by Sacramento are ridiculous to me. Why did they sign Zach Randolph? And really, Vince Carter? What does a 40-year-old Vince bring to a lottery team exactly?

Agreed. Contrary to what was said (or implied) during his prime, turns out Vince actually loves the game.Superbone wrote:I don't think so. I think he still loves to play. Nice bene though.carey wrote:Annnnd... that's why he's still playing. Lol.O_Gardino wrote:9 yrs as a star: ~ $72.5 Million

Knicks signed Tim Hardaway Jr to a 4yr 71mil offer sheet which is kinda ridiculous but hey, Knicks gon' Knicks. Hawks can match. I wouldn't.

Wow. People are crazy. That contract is beyond imbecile. Hawks should laugh their ass off as they let expire the time to match. Incredible.
Re: Around the League: The Offseason
I could see a few things in play here...Knicks could be looking to move Courtney Lee in a potential Melo deal. They could also be looking to screw the Hawks' cap up, kind of like what BK would be doing to Washington if the Wiz match. But in that case, who cares about the Hawks. It's not like they're good or are a threat to the Knicks. The Wiz are a successful team already and screwing with their cap kind of limits them the next few years. Plus BK's offer was pretty badass with a 15% kicker and 50% money paid out before the season starts. Not sure the details of the Knicks' offer, but can't imagine it's that extreme. I also thought there may be an agent favor there, but THJ's agent doesn't have any big clients right now.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
Well I will say this , second half of last season he was really balling (fantasy league team) lol but all jokes aside he was much more consistent and one of their better players. I just double checked the numbers and he avged 18ppg from Feb when PT went up. Only when it's the Suns I am concerned about the $$$ but over paying is the new normal these days , Crabbe never put up such numbers and got 4 - 75 and Otto bout to get 4 - 108 so que sera sera

Not the player I would have dealt. BOS saves a few million this year but Marcus still has one more year on his deal at $5M. Avery is expiring.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
I've been a Bradley fan for years. Guy is one of the beter on ball defenders in the league and his offensive game has improved. I understand why the Celtcis did it, but I would of moved Crowoder for a 2nd rd pick instead. He has a sweetheart deal, so I'm surprised they had trouble moving him.
So to recap....Average to below average player in Olynak hauls in 12mil per and a washed up Carter goes for 8mil. Remember the time where we lost Joe Johnson, an asending star at the time because we didn't want to pay him was it like 6mil a year? So then we let him play out his contract and lost him to the Hawks. Times a changin...Love the fact Suns are sitting this out instead of throwing money at 9th and 10th guys off the bench.

I doubt Morris cracks their rotation. His contract is what they needed. They cleared exactly 3.8mil with the move and thats exactly what they needed to sign Hayward. Interesting that IT's cloest friend on the team is Bradly and they grew up together, I'm sure he's not happy with this.bajanguy008 wrote:I feel they probably can't get Smart moved but still that's adding another SF to the logjam so strange move thatcarey wrote:https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/883323665680547842 https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/883324219295248384 Not the player I would have dealt. If I remember correctly, they offered $8 million a year and he wanted $9 million per. And then he ended up getting $14 million a year from Atlanta.Sunsfan4life wrote:So to recap....Average to below average player in Olynak hauls in 12mil per and a washed up Carter goes for 8mil. He's a very average player - he really hasn't improved since his second year in the league.Sunsfan4life wrote:I doubt Morris cracks their rotation. His contract is what they needed. He'll probably be dropped from the rotation as soon as playoff time comes around.
