Yeah, I don't understand any of those moves.Sunsfan4life wrote:George Hill, Vince Carter, Z-Bo....
These are acquisitions teams that are close to a championship make. Not one from a bottom 3 team in the west. No Idea what sacramento is doing, but I expect them to be the center of attention at the deadline again.
Around the League: The Offseason

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
I'm a little surprised at how people are reacting to this deal. Otto Porter just got $100 mil for averaging 13 points per game. $71 million for Hardaway isn't terrible; he was tremendous for the Hawks last season. I don't understand why NY would bring him back, but if I were the Hawks, I would seriously consider matching.Ring_Wanted wrote:Wow. People are crazy. That contract is beyond imbecile. Hawks should laugh their ass off as they let expire the time to match. Incredible.
Re: Around the League: The Offseason
Probably the worst trade of the offseason. I don't care if it helps sign Hayward. Awful.carey wrote:https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/883323665680547842 https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/883324219295248384 Not the player I would have dealt. BOS saves a few million this year but Marcus still has one more year on his deal at $5M. Avery is expiring.
And some moron on ESPN was talking about Morris being an upgrade at the 4 and bringing desperately needed rebounding and toughness. Uh, Avery Bradley outrebounded Marcus Morris last year.
Re: Around the League: The Offseason
I couldn't disagree more. Marcus Morris isn't a good player.Ring_Wanted wrote:About the Bradley trade: Ainge doesn't want to have to pay Avery. Simple as that. He is aiming for a superteam and he won't be able to assemble it if he has to give Bradley $17-20M per, so he is cutting his loses early while getting one of the biggest bargains in the whole league. Hate him all you want, but 4M per for M****s M****s is outstading value.

Can't agree on THJ. I'd let him go without even thinking about it twice. About Marcus, he is average. 4M per today for average is outstanding.

He makes $5.4M though.Ring_Wanted wrote:Can't agree on THJ. I'd let him go without even thinking about it twice. About Marcus, he is average. 4M per today for average is outstanding.

haha yeah he does
THJ won't be mathed by Hawks, per Woj. He is all NY's.

Strong move. Brings scoring to a bench that needed pop and a backcourt that was a little thin. Like it.carey wrote:Jamal Crawford to the Timberwolves.

Eh, Crawford sucked last year. I think he's done
Re: Around the League: The Offseason
In theory that's a nice pickup, but isn't Jamal Crawford a little long in the tooth? Can he really still produce?

Toronto dumps Carroll on the Nets at the cost of a 1stR (they get Justin Hamilton back, who I like):

Sean Marks is doing well in BRY.
Needed as well for the Raps. You always hate surrendering picks but in this case it was a smart decision because they have just drafted first round talent to play the position in OG Anunoby. Masaj knows his shit.
Win-win move.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
Perhaps, but his numbers are not bad for a 36 year old microwave off the bench (44% 2pt, 36% 3pt, never misses FTs and 2.6 asst to 1.6 TOs). It's just that his hogness gets on you, but the guy still dribbles like a demon and can get his shot off so he can give you 20+ anytime. Thibs can use him and in any case, the Wolves don't really lose anything. Two year deal at 9M per. Second year could be useless but you have an expiring to play around.Split T wrote:Eh, Crawford sucked last year. I think he's done

This extension effectively means he is roughly on a 6/230M contract. Why not. Money will only go higher in the next years and the franchise gain absolute control over a top player.carey wrote:That James Harden extension is ridonkulous.

Forget the Madden Curse , seems like being the Sixers #1 draft pick is the real jinx as Fultz probably done for SL

That'll be the norm soon. It's ridiculous money but in the context of today's NBA, it's not ludicrous.
Just curious, when is Booker up for extension? Do we have any idea what his "Supermax" deal will be around, because that's what he'll get.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
Next Summer, and unless he makes a couple All-Star teams or All-NBA teams he won't be available for the Rose rule supermax. Just a normal max contract for a player coming off of their rookie deal. For players with 0 - 6 years of experience it is 25% of cap which for this year would be $24,773,250.Sunsfan4life wrote:Just curious, when is Booker up for extension? Lauvergne to the Spurs.
Nice pickup. I'm sure he'll have his moments.

Haven't found the numbers on that deal but I'm sure it's not a lot and I'm sure it'll be one of the underrated pickups of the offseason.
