Golden State has not finished negotiations?
I read, they could get a hefty sum, even moving the cap needle a bit

Interesting article about James' 2-way contract.

Basically, he'll spend the first 45 days with the team at which point we'll either release him or sign him to an NBA deal. He won't play in the D-League at all.

That's all speculation by the author.

I would speculate on him as insurance for a Knight even a Bledsoe deal happening. Last year Eric was all over the place, working out in Phoenix and then as ambassador in Basketball without borders. I think both McD is open to changes

Whatever his contract situation, I really liked him in the game today. He wanted to win, and he showed a little frustration when we were down big. In a good way, I thought.

Having Mike James as you insurance doesn't give you full coverage.

I think he's more likely a practice body/G-League guy who they like for his work ethic and attitude.

Probably. I haven't seen much defense from him in the SL. He got a few steals by gambling and it being sloppy Summer League but couldn't keep his man in front of him but his first two covers were Fox and DSJ. So ...

He's perfectly fine as a 3rd point guard. Better than Ronnie Price.

This. I think we didn't want to relegate Ulis to 3rd guard by keeping Barbosa or bringing a more seasoned player, but James still will push him hard to keep his spot, unlike Price.

I'm not saying we are going to start him if we trade Bledsoe, but I can definitively see that we are readying the roster for life after Knight, as today we have no room for him (You can easily argue that Bledsoe, Booker, Ulis, Reed, even James are closer to the core, that's EVERYBODY on the backcourt, unlike a year ago). My toughts on Bledsoe were more about how he is not as engaged, or maybe not as portrayed as last year. I think we are open to trade him, curious to see if we push for a PG back in the deal, or keep Knight and give him a go. But I highly doubt that we are looking at our opening backcourt roster as it is right now.

The San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns were reportedly close to agreeing on a sign-and-trade that would have sent Jonathon Simmons to Phoenix in exchange for veteran center Tyson Chandler, according to the San Antonio Express-News' Jabari Young.

I'm not really sure how Simmons would fit here. He's a nice player, but he'd just take minutes from Jackson and Warren and he's older than you'd think, 27.

And just because he looks good playing for Pop doesn't mean he'd look good playing for Watson.

I would not make that trade. I just wouldn't unless it's a precursor to another move where TJ is getting moved out and we're getting a center back (Noah?). And even then, I'd rather have Tyson but it might be moot if he wants to be moved to a contender.

There is no room for Jonathan Simmons. You have Reed, Jackson, and Warren. Stop being an idiot, Ryan.
