I know the offseason is really slowing Down. But I'm very proud to announce that one of your .netters (yours truely ) was mentioned in an NBA.com article

Have a read:

35 year old adult male dominates Jr NBA camp

http://www.nba.com/bsarticle

With no actual age limit listed for the camp (rather it was implied by the word Jr) Local malcontent Who is simply known as the 'Danimal' took matters into his own hands and turned a number of heads during a strong showing at the camp

Most NBA scouts have been focusing on the NBA Las Vegas summer league lately. But it seems the Jr NBA camp could also be fertile ground for recruitment even in the short term.
Earl Watson sounded upbeat in his assessment: "most folks would just let the kids play, But not Danimal. He saw one uncontested layup and was like 'f*ck this I'm going in!' Watson was wearing a shirt that said "I love love". Danimal undrafted since 2002 is listed as having a vertical leap of 3 cm. He also drew much interest from fans who were screaming in appreciation of his efforts. Although it was later confirmed they were actually parents yelling at him to get off the court.

6 year old Kent smith however seemed positive of his older teammates efforts. 'What you need to know about Danimal is that he is actually a big kid at heart!' Even when he steps on the court and starts talking trash to 8 year olds and sends their shots into the stands, That's just a teaching moment. It's all about the kids with Danimal!'

As always Danimal had the last word for people who doubted his game. "Some people said I was getting too old for this. But I proved those haters wrong" said Danimal who collected 30 points, every rebound and 0 assists. He also racked up 4 technical fouls (camp record) and over $20 in stolen lunch money. 'He is such a good stat sheet stuffer said GM Ryan McD. One time he even literally stuffed one of the kids in a garbage can with the recycled stat sheets. Got a real chip on his shoulder, it's possibly nacho cheese. We are excited about what he brings to the table! I mean that's the next, next, next generation of NBA talent that he was just dominating out there! He was truly a man amongst boys"

Danimal is currently mulling contract offers. With the Phoenix Suns offering a tinder premium package, it looks likely to be Danimals final landing spot. "you're never too old to live your dream!" Said a tearful Danimal when camp ended.

Problem is Melo won't decline his no-trade clause for Portland.

How about this:

Houston gets Melo.
NOP gets Ryan Anderson.
PHX gets Asik+Ajinca+Pondexter
NYK gets Knight.

Houston would need to add something to the Knicks (protected 1st in '19 for instance, or perhaps Isaiah Hartenstein), since they are turning Anderson into Melo.

Pelicans turn the unplayable Asik (3 years left) and filler into a stretch forward that should compliment really well their two franchise big men. Expensive, but much more useful.

Suns get rid of Knight and save some money along the way. Cut all the stuff from NOP except maybe Ajinca (or if someone wants him for a 2ndR, be my guest).
Melo is being stubborn about Houston. Portland's a good situation with a good roster around him.

I'd rather keep Knight than take back your pu pu platter, RW.

What about this?

Suns get:
any second round pick. 45? 57? 2nd rounder that's protected 31-58 in 2025? Sure! Any will do! IDGF.

Any team, seriously, any fucking team! gets:
Brandon Knight.

Who says no?

Suns finally get rid of knight and Any Fucking Team gets some one who was almost an All-Star in the east!

I'd rather have herpes than Knight. Keeping him shouldn't be an option, even if it means cutting him. It's been reported that last deadline the Suns couldn't even give him away for an expiring and a second rounder.

I'm pretty sure that if any team was willing to take Knight without an asset attached or sending their own shit contract our way, Knight would no longer be here.

In both of those proposals, the Suns save a little cash and get a player who can maybe play some spot minutes sometimes. Neither of those trades would be a big win, but they would dump Knight without making us worse.

Suns have 3 realistic options on Knight:

1. Keep him, and hope that he doesn't disrupt things in the locker room too badly. This seems pretty implausible, given that he has demonstrated he just wants to get as far away from the team as possible.

2. Trade him, and use lottery picks as bait (a la Kurt Thomas and 2 1st round picks for cap relief). Given how useless Knight is, and how useful KT still was, it's going to take more than just a pair of first round picks.

3. Buy him out. This one seems like the most plausible option. I suspect that negotiations on this one are already underway. I'm not sure what the cap hit on this one would be, but frankly, paying him 14 million a year to play somewhere else hurts some other schmuck more that it hurts us, given his horrific real plus minus.

They won't keep him. They won't trade him with anything more than the '18 Miami pick. They aren't buying out $44M either. The most they have ever bought out was Beasley's deal which I think they just finished paying for last year. It would be on the books for the next 7 years if they stretched Knight. I don't see it.

There is a Suns press conference for 11 a.m. today. No topic released but McDonough and Sarver are going to be there. Dunno.

McDonough extension most likely. I get that he's in the last year of his deal but I would rather wait to see what this season holds before we go rewarding a GM who's never put a team in the playoffs. Typical Suns move though, rewarding potential rather than results.

Sarver hasn't been at a press conference all Summer so it's likely though I guess it could be uniforms or something else. If it involved a player it would have been leaked already.

You illustrated my point. They have to pick one of those 3 options, unless they want to tell him to go take a vacation for three years (which I don't regard as realistic).

One of them MUST happen. Which one is it? No one is taking him off our hands for a protected draft pick, unless we take back nearly equally bad salary.

It has to be an extension. Which will be a first for Sarver, right? Extending a FO exec before his contract expires?

Well, there is also the option that he doesn't agree to a buy out and we pay him but say we don't want him near the team, right?

I think either uniform/logo related, McD extension or Big Sauce resigning.
