Love, Hurts.

Well, I don't think they'd waste a roster spot on a guy staying at home for 3 years and also doing that to someone's career. I'm sure that would endear the team to future FAs.Indy wrote:Well, there is also the option that he doesn't agree to a buy out and we pay him but say we don't want him near the team, right?

LOL Danimal. Good stuff.
As for Knight, my guess is that they trade him away for some equally shitty ballast contract. Probably not a trade that will save us much of any $ or years. But we'll acquire some other team's unwanted player who will be willing to sit quietly on the bench.

I don't think they will. I was just saying that is something that can happen if we are listing all the possibilities. My bet is that they waste even more 1st round draft picks to rid themselves of the guy after giving up our favorite 1st round draft pick for.carey wrote:Well, I don't think they'd waste a roster spot on a guy staying at home for 3 years and also doing that to someone's career. Yeah, I look at it as more of a positive than a negative. It would be nice to have a little stability for a change. I think most here are at least OK with McDonough. Gives him a chance to see if his long term strategy turns the team around.Indy wrote:It has to be an extension. Which will be a first for Sarver, right? 1. Some team takes him for an expiring contract
2. Some team takes him for an expiring contract and we add on a marginal asset(2nd round pick)
3. Some team takes him for a player on a 2-3 year contract at a smaller salary.
4. Some team takes him for a player on a 2-3 year contract at a smaller salary and we add on a marginal asset.
5. We tell Knight no one wants him and he needs to show up for the season, play 10-15 minutes a game off the bench and rebuild some value.
6. We buy him out. Not sure I'd want to use the stretch provision though. We'd be on the hook for 6 million a year for 7 years.

Love the McD extension.
People here want to commit to going young and were hoping we would tank last year, now are calling to not extend McD because we haven't made the playoffs.
If you are going to commit to going young then the GM needs reassurances that he will have time to implement that plan. Otherwise he might as well have signed Millsap and a bunch of other crusty veterans.

I like this, now let's do it right. What I'd like to see happen:
1. Trade Chandler if he expects to play more than 20 minutes. I'd be fine bringing Len back if we do trade Tyson.
2. Trade Bledsoe. Preferably we'd move him for a somewhat established player that's under 25.
My dream trade would be to Denver for Gary Harris. Could Harris-Booker-Jackson work as a perimeter grouping? I'm not sure, it lacks a true pg, but I think it could. 2 good defenders, 2 good shooters, and all 3 can create their own shot and create for others to a degree. Denver might want something else though. I think they really like Harris.
3. Play the young guys. None of the Chriss/Bender/Ulis/Jackson group should get less than 20 minutes a game. Reed should get 12-15 minutes.
Here's my ideal rotation:
PG. Harris: 24 minutes, Ulis 24 minutes
SG. Booker: 34 minutes, Harris 8 minutes, Reed 6 minutes
SF. Jackson 30 minutes, Warren 12 minutes, Reed 6 minutes
PF. Chriss 24 minutes, Bender 12 minutes, Warren 12 minutes
C. Chandler/Len 18 minutes, Williams 18 minutes, Bender 12 minutes
Total minutes:
Booker 34
Harris 32
Jackson 30
Chriss, Bender, Warren, Ulis 24
Chandler/Len, Williams 18
Reed 12
