Suns News: The Offseason

Something tells me Melo doesn't want to move to Portland.

I understand that, I'm not sure he can play PG long term either. I'd be willing to give it a try though and hope that out of ulis, Harris, Booker, and Jackson we'd have enough play making.djy2j wrote:I don't think I'd want Harris at PG. I have seen nothing inspiring that makes me think he could run a team. Not knocking him as a player. He's got potential to be a good SG. I have been watching him since H.S. and I don't think he has the IQ to be a successful PG. He wasn't even a PG in HS. I remember watching Harris and his teammate Zak Irvin (who is on the Heat SL) get blown out by 30 points on the sate Sectional Finals to a team who didn't have any D1 recruits because he would come down and play 1 on 1 and jack up a 3 every time. He didn't play PG at MSU either. My dream trade would be to Denver for Gary Harris. Could Harris-Booker-Jackson work as a perimeter grouping? I'm not sure, it lacks a true pg, but I think it could. 2 good defenders, 2 good shooters, and all 3 can create their own shot and create for others to a degree. Denver might want something else though. I think they really like Harris.
3. Play the young guys. None of the Chriss/Bender/Ulis/Jackson group should get less than 20 minutes a game. Reed should get 12-15 minutes.
Here's my ideal rotation:
PG. Harris: 24 minutes, Ulis 24 minutes
SG. Booker: 34 minutes, Harris 8 minutes, Reed 6 minutes
SF. Jackson 30 minutes, Warren 12 minutes, Reed 6 minutes
PF. Chriss 24 minutes, Bender 12 minutes, Warren 12 minutes
C. Chandler/Len 18 minutes, Williams 18 minutes, Bender 12 minutes
Total minutes:
Booker 34
Harris 32
Jackson 30
Chriss, Bender, Warren, Ulis 24
Chandler/Len, Williams 18
Reed 12
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I'd pass on this and Harris, as it creates confusion, misunderstandings of roles and frustrations over duplication.

I don't really see the downside to adding a 22 year old who shoots 40% plus from 3 and should be able to guard both backcourt positions.Indy wrote:So we will probably do it.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Aka Suns wheelhouse.In2ition wrote:I'd pass on this and Harris, as it creates confusion, misunderstandings of roles and frustrations over duplication.

Sounds like a certain borderline All-Star we got from Milwaukee a few years ago.Split T wrote:I don't really see the downside to adding a 22 year old who shoots 40% plus from 3 and should be able to guard both backcourt positions.Indy wrote:So we will probably do it.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Aka Suns wheelhouse.In2ition wrote:I'd pass on this and Harris, as it creates confusion, misunderstandings of roles and frustrations over duplication.

Harris is bigger and doesn't need the ball in his handsCap wrote:Sounds like a certain borderline All-Star we got from Milwaukee a few years ago.Split T wrote:I don't really see the downside to adding a 22 year old who shoots 40% plus from 3 and should be able to guard both backcourt positions.Indy wrote:So we will probably do it.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Aka Suns wheelhouse.In2ition wrote:I'd pass on this and Harris, as it creates confusion, misunderstandings of roles and frustrations over duplication.

And BK can't stay in front of anyone.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Was he playing PG for Denver? Haven't followed him much lately.Split T wrote:Harris is bigger and doesn't need the ball in his handsCap wrote:Sounds like a certain borderline All-Star we got from Milwaukee a few years ago.Split T wrote:I don't really see the downside to adding a 22 year old who shoots 40% plus from 3 and should be able to guard both backcourt positions.Indy wrote:So we will probably do it.TheOriginalOriginal wrote: Aka Suns wheelhouse.

No he's s 2-guard, but I think he could potentially play the 1 in stretches

Could Andre Drummond be persuaded to learn to shoot his free throws granny style?

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I'd be ok with the FT struggle if he defended at a relevant level, but he doesn't and is already developing a fame of being lazy. On the other hand, he is so young and gifted that you still feel tempted. The salary is huge but if Detroit is willing to sell at a discount, I'd give it a hard look. Probably there is no middle ground, though.In2ition wrote:I doubt itMarty [Mori Chu] wrote:Could Andre Drummond be persuaded to learn to shoot his free throws granny style?
