I still like Dunn so long as we move Bleds and Knight.
I see little to no difference between Bledsoe and Dunn. Basically a lateral move at best if Dunn lives up to his lofty billing. If we grab a new PG, I'd rather he not be a score first turnover machine.
+1

If the Suns pick Dunn tomorrow, it's going to be for someone else. Of course, unless they overplay their hand like they did when they pick Ennis.

If that's not possible, I'd probably keep the pick and draft Hield, Sabonis, or Skal.
Um, didn't you say:

Why do you feel that trade would accomplish what I said not to do?

Neither of those guys is going to blossom into a franchise player, but they are both young enough to need and expect playing time. They would be just good enough to keep us in the late lottery and away from most of the future HOF picks.

So we're not going to make any moves unless it is for a franchise player?

Ersan Ilyasova would be a throw. His contract is non-guaranteed and I would just waive him. I feel Oladipo can be a very important player on a championship team.

LOL at Cap and Inf posting at the same time.

I understand what you are getting at, Inf, but I just feel that there are a lot of god supporting pieces out there. You can pick them up once you have your stars. But getting all those good role players is a good way to win 45 or 50 games and never draft that star.

Well here's where we differ: I don't just see role players and franchise players. I feel there are multiple levels of players in between. And I don't think there are many "pieces" out there like Victor Oladipo.

We're building around Booker, right? He is the first piece of our championship puzzle to be in place.

Ideally I'd like the second piece to play a different position from Booker, but have a similar age and contract status. Oladipo plays the same position as Booker and is one year from RFA status.

Let's go get the #7 or #8 pick and use it to grab Sabonis!

If all those teams are shopping their pick then no one is because the value is gone.

How about we just go ahead and take Brice Johnson at 4?

:P

I get all of that. Very valid concerns.

I just think that with Oladipo and Hield, they're good enough to compel me to give it a try. With Oladipo, I think there is less reason for concern. He can defend 1s. Draft Valentine and make him the primary ball handler and you have a three guard lineup of Oladipo-Booker-Valentine.

Draft Valentine? You just said in another thread he had Atrocious Defense and Brandon Roy Knees.

If it's a choice between those two, I'd rather use the #4 on Hield than trade it for Oladipo.

I'm okay not taking Bledsoe's replacement in this draft. Lots of point guards should be available next year. I'd like to think we could grab one then or the following season, when we own both our own and Miami's selection.
