I didn’t turn this game off after the first quarter this time. Having Warren back gave me some hope. Warren got the boot early and I expected the worst. Instead they fought hard and almost won. Holmes has been a huge bright spot. They lost but I am pretty proud of the guys showing some fight.

Ayton definetly more active tonight
Which is saying something, I think early he's been about as active as a guy with his physical gifts SHOULD be, this should be the norm for him. Maybe he'll get there.
Hopefully.
I honestly see no reason why he's not avg 20/12/2blk as a rookie. Everything but the assertiveness is already there.
Got his 20/12/3 tonight
In only 28 minutes I believe

Wow what a game! Why can't they play hard like that every game? Melton was pretty awesome for how little experience he has.

My only beefs are with Ariza for letting Gumby take over his body. It's like every time his hand touched the ball in instantly gave him vertigo.

Also with TJ. Not sure what he was thinking tonight. Can't do your team like that in this situation. I haven't been liking what I've seen out of his attitude lately. Doesn't seem to like his teammates and seems they feel likewise.

Felt like Igor kind of ran out of plays there at the end. Needed a timeout or 2 after baskets but he chose to let his team play. Don't think you can give a team like this so much free reign when it matters.

Hope this is a blueprint for hiw to play every game going forward.

Lawler retiring, by the way, after this season.

I enjoyed this game. The guys seemed to play hard for once. About six or seven guys seemed to legitimately play well: Ayton, Bridges, Melton, Holmes, Jackson, Daniels, Ariza. I love Holmes. Don't mind the loss. When they try, they are not so bad. We need guys who will give 100% effort and at least try to play defense.

Proves that Ayton needs time... Second time against guys hes showing he's learning.. Long way to go but the payback is decent

That game was fun.

Did anyone else think we were going to blow it as soon as Igor took out Holmes and put Ayton back in?

Holmes played the first half of the 4th and we were a +11, Ayton comes in for 3 minutes and we go -9. Holmes comes back and plays them even until he fouls out. Ayton come back and puts up a -4 in his time. Ouch.

Ayton played really well in the first half, but unfortunately couldn't keep it going in the second half. I was a little disappointed that the guys stopped even trying to go to him when he came back in the 2nd quarter. He has to learn, stay active and engaged at both ends throughout the game.

When Ayton starts wrestling with his man for position down low, his teammates notice and the ball tends to find its way to him. When he isn’t as aggressive, the ball stays on the perimeter. He has to show everyone that he’s ready to fight.

I thought we would too. So I focused on him the whole time. He was engaged and I thought he made solid rotations and closeouts. The numbers state otherwise but I don’t think he was the direct cause for the collapse.

4th Q
12:00 to 5:14 w/o Ayton: Suns +11
5:14 to 2:38 w/Ayton: Suns -9 (2:36 of game time lost us -9 points!)
2:38 to 0:00 w/o Ayton: Suns 0

OT
5:00 to 3:17 w/o Ayton: Suns 0
3:17 to 0:00 w Ayton: Suns -4

Nobody else on the court was negative in the 4th or OT if Ayton was out of the game.

Yeah I mean I know the numbers don’t look good, but i think they’re misleading. Didn’t match what I saw
