Dallas shipping out two unprotected first round picks so the deal makes a little more sense. I guess.

Any player going to NY as a free agent is doing so for the wrong reasons. If guys want to be in the NY market, Brooklyn is the place to play.

I just can't believe KD is leaving Cali weather and the GS roster, FO and ownership to play for the Knicks and that shitshow. Even if they land Kyrie to pair with him, he's playing with STEPH CURRY RIGHT NOW.

Unless you grew up a Knicks fan or wanted to play for Fizdale. There could be other reasons as well. New your is "The Basketball Mecca" after all.

Playing for Dolan would be pretty far down the list though.

Mavs have nothing of value to trade. LOL NY.
With all the details out, and with KP's injury status, NY got a pretty good return.

If I were a Knick fan, though, I don't think I would be happy.

WTF IS NY DOING??
Funny thing is, trying to trade Porzingis got Phil Jackson fired.

The Knicks are now projected to have over $70 million in cap space next year.

If by return you mean cleared the cap, then sure, they accomplished that.

Isn’t too different from our marbury/hardaway dump on NY. Although marbury wasn’t Porzingis and the Knicks don’t have nearly the young talent that Phoenix team had.

I'm not really keen on picks that are 2 and 4 years out myself, so much can happen between now and then. If they can add some high end talent with the cap room they've cleared then I guess I'd say their plan worked out.

Is Ball just another version of Elfrid Payton. I was keen on Ball but have doubts now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ball in an All-Star game someday. That can never be said about Payton.

Sure it can.

Have you seen Payton shoot? I'm not sure he has vision at all.

The general sentiment seems to be that NY got fleeced, but to me it seems like a high risk high reward move for both teams.

KP is a great talent but is always injured and huge (bad combo). NY got rid of their bad contracts and now have 2 max slots for the FA lottery, while this I guess takes Dallas out of discussion for big FA signings. The picks traded are a few years away, and the uncertainty cuts both ways (especially with one being unprotected). Smith is still a solid prospect. And KP is already talking about taking the qualifying offer.

The 2 first rounders makes it not awful. If they hit in free agency, those pieces could also be used a valuable trade chips to round out the roster.

If Porzingis recovers and becomes 100% again, Dallas absolutely fleeced New York. If he's hurt bad and will not be the same again, I guess New York got a stealthy win here. I'm envious of the young roster Dallas has put together.

Would you swap booker/Ayton for doncic/porzingis... Not sure I would

I would. Doncic and a healthy KP will be nasty for years to come.

NY got fleeced if they strike out in FA. They must be confident they're landing some star(s) whether it be AD, KD, Kyrie, Butler, etc.
